Extrovert punk cabaret siren Amanda Palmer is tired. Despite saying she's great, her voice is croaky and she sounds world-weary from her recent larger than life exploits. But one mention of her literary rockstar boyfriend Neil Gaiman's marriage proposal sets her laughing and exploding into a buoyant mood. When asked what the reaction has been to their recent engagement, she screams, "expressive happiness all around! For anybody who has seen us together, it's about as obvious as it could possibly get. We're really, really happy." It's sure to be one hell of a wedding party.

It was nearly two years ago that Scottish indie folksters Frightened Rabbit's second album, 'The Midnight Organ Fight', burst its way into my life, and I've been listening to it incessantly ever since. Passionate, raw, emotional, brilliantly written and performed in a way that somehow seemed spontaneous despite its immaculate production, it quickly worked its way not just to the top of my playlist, but to my list of best albums of all time. So it was with both excitement and trepidation that I put 'The Winter of Mixed Drinks' into the CD player, held my breath and pressed "play." What I got was certainly not what I was expecting...
