Kate Miller-Heidke

"I definitely put pressure on myself to make an album that was better than the last one," claims Kate Miller-Heidke, as she prepares for the release of her second record 'Curiouser', which is due to hit the shelves in a matter of weeks. "You definitely grow as a musician, and it was eighteen months ago when I made that last album, so I think that I'm definitely a different person now, and a different musician. There were lots of things that I wanted to be bigger and better. So yeah, of course the pressure was there to a certain extent, but I have a lot faith in these songs, and in this album."

The Drones
Havilah
ATP

It seems like an age since The Drones released their last album, 'Gala Mill', back in 2006. A big part of that is probably down to the degree to which the band really have become an international entity, touring constantly - not to mention the fact that they've barely set foot in Adelaide since last year's Big Day Out.

They say good things come to those who wait, though, and The Drones are yet to produce an album that even comes close to disappointing. 'Havilah' is hardly the exception to that rule. The album sees the band moving further in the direction touched on by 'Gala Mill' - for the most part, it's softer, more considered and more textured. In a way, this serves well to accentuate the album's more thundering moments.
