Prize Frenzy™

With the Garden Of Unearthly Delights open for business and the Fringe practically upon him, Frenzor(tm) had better be careful lest the sky fall on his head. Not known for being overly dramatic, he is nevertheless as susceptible to hangovers as the puny humans that he terrorises, and should such a fate befall him you'd be wise to steer a wide berth around him. Just the morning breath from a hulking carnivorous brute yet to discover toothpaste or dental floss is scary enough. Fortunately, if you wait till the civilised hour of 1pm on Friday 27 Feb to dial 8231 0881, you'll avoid any scenes of unnecessary brutality and you can simply have your pick of the week's prizes (that's right, we're weekly for now).

1. Claudette Berkowitz reviews the Soul Deep compilation in this edition, finding a few choice cuts among the 40-odd featured on the compilation, and there are five copies up fro grabs thanks to the kind folks at Liberation.

2. Ben Revi has a rather instructive chat in this edition with Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer and her solo project, which sees her visiting The Gov to play with The Danger Ensemble on Wednesday 4 March. If you want to be in the audience for that show, just call up and say the word and if you're quick enough you can win one of five double passes.

3. The new 'Notorious' movie chronicles the live of The Notorious B.I.G., and the accompanying soundtrack offers a selection of his hits plus some new material, including previously unreleased demos. Alexis Buxton-Collins reviews it in this edition, and you'd better be quick to grab a copy, because there are only two on offer.

4. Saturday 28 Feb sees not one, but two excellent bands playing at Jive - Andrew Weaver's interview with Blue Mountains psychedelic popsters Belles Will Ring will tell you all about them, but don't write off Philadelphia Grand Jury either - there's a reason they're fast getting a reputation as Sydney's best live band, and you can find out why with one of two double passes to the show.

5. Frehd Astarr and TimEee Presley have a Fringe show. It's called Something About Fairy, and they tell Steve Jones all about it as part of dB's massive ongoing Fringe coverage. Find out what they have to say, then be quick to grab one of two double passes.

Alexis Buxton-Collins thinks Seun Kuti's 'Many Things' is the best afrobeat album to come out in some time, and his interview with the artist will appear in next week's edition ahead of Kuti's WOMADelaide performance, but to tide you over until then there are five copies of the album up for grabs at www.dbmagazine.com.au.

Which members of Seun Kuti's band rece ntly collaborated with fellow WOMADelaide artist Tony Allen? Send answers to frenzy@dbmagazine.com.au
