Pacific!
Reveries
Shock

80s-electro pop continues to infiltrate the music of today and Swedish group Pacific! is one of many who embrace it. Comprised of childhood friends Danny Hogberg and Bjorn Synneby, Pacific! blend 80s synth-pop with the melodic and fresh sounds of current electro trends.

Over the past year the two have holed themselves up in their makeshift studio and produced three 12" EPs, 'Sunset Blvd', 'Hot Lips' and 'Number One', on Swedish label Dolores. All three EPs have helped build a fast growing fan base and Myspace following that has seen 'Sunset Blvd' sell out.

The release of their debut album 'Reveries' has been a long time coming, but has well been worth the wait. Its mish-mash of electro-pop is dominated by synthesiser and Beach Boys-esque harmonies, creating an entertaining and sunny sound.

There can be no doubt of the influence of electro pioneers Air and Daft Punk, with Disappear sounding like a b-side from Air's 'Moon Safari' and Sunset Boulevard as close to Air-inspired Phoenix as you will ever hear. And while these influences are audible, they don't detract from the overall vibe of the album, fitting perfectly with the harmonious slice of new rave electro Number One or the slightly cheesy yet catchy voice box synth of Runaway To Elsewhere. What Pacific! has been able to do that many can't is to add to the sound of their influences rather that just copy them, helping to diversify their sound.

The chilled and relaxing vibe the album achieves with its splicing of genres and influences is a credit to Pacific! as they have created an uplifting and inspiring debut that is crying out to be the soundtrack of the summer.
