Prize Frenzy™
With Mother's Day almost upon us, Frenzor's(tm) wise to you cheapskates trying to take advantage of the hard work and save yourself the effort of choosing a present. With that in mind, Frenzor's making every caller solemnly promise to use the prizes themselves, and to enjoy them, what's more. Of course, Frenzor's own mumsy was long ago slain by a handsome young prince wanting to steal her treasure horde, so you can be sure that theres no holding out on you when you call 8231 0881 on the stroke of the Triple J news at 1pm on Fri 2 May.
1. Bliss N Eso grace the cover of this edition because they're coming to town as part of the Unified tour, bringing hip-hop to university campuses across Australia, and that includes two shows at Flinders University on Thurs 29 and Fri 30 May. If you want to score yourself a double pass to one of the evenings thanks to Illusive, you know the drill.
2. Brian O'Neill's been "slightly obsessed" with Camille's new record, 'Music Hole', lately, and you might notice it sitting in the 'We Liked It And You Will Too' spot. Amazingly, in news that's sure to get the chanteuse herself excited, it's also scored the highly prestigious 'We Have 5 Copies To Give Away Thanks To EMI' slot for this edition.
3. Rock and roll really doesn't have to be a complicated business - simply form a band, write some incredibly catchy pop songs and wait for the kudos to come rolling in. That's what The Holidays have done, and it worked so well that they want you to see the results when they play at Jive on Sun 11 May.
4. Kate Miller-Heidke popped into town last week, but there was a lot of attention focussed across the road at the Foo Fighters. If you missed out on her live show, at least you can imagine what it would have been like with a special edition of her 'Little Eve' CD containing a DVD featuring live footage of the platinum starlet.
5. Re-creating the bombast of a Pink Floyd live show is something most music fans would agree is impossible, but 10 musicians live onstage with a huge laser system, 50,000 watts of 5.1 surround sound and giant inflatable pigs might at last have a chance of coming close for three hours. That'd be what 'Beyond The Darkside' is going for then, when it takes over the Festival Theatre on Sat 10 May.
6. A year after the release, the first season DVDs of 'Aqua Teen Hunger Force', 'Harvey Birdman' and 'Robot Chicken' proved so popular last edition that Madman have provided another five packs containing all three DVDs to keep the masses appeased.

Online Frenzy™
Sam Vinall knows a thing or two about Against Me! and he's pretty darn keen on them - just read the interview he conducted with the band's main man Tom Gabel if you don't believe it. What's more, Crime In Stereo, who are supporting them, put out one of his favourite records of last year, so you know he'll be in the front row for the show on Thursday 1 May (the day after this goes to print).
