Prize Frenzy™

And so the saga of Frenzor's™ Famous Fringe Frenzy continues, as the binge of freebies reaches its zenith. If you haven't made it out of the house to catch a few shows already, Frenzor's™ starting to get angry - he's going out of his way to make all these free tickets available, and you still resist? What else is he supposed to do? Of course, while he may be a fearsome beast, he's never been known for his cunning plans, so he's doing the only thing he can think of; throwing more tickets your way in the hope that you'll finally call 8231 0881 at 1pm on Friday 7 Mar to do your bit and see a few shows.

1. There are plenty of Adelaide feline lovers keen to see the sultry Cat Power, but Puff tips that it's her band that'll be really interesting on the night. With members of The Dirty Three (Jim White), Delta 72 (Greg Foreman) and Blues Explosion (Judah Bauer), they've cleverly titled themselves the Dirty Delta Blues. Bass player Erik Paparazzi must feel a bit left out, but that's why Puff will be a The Gov on Mon 10 Mar giving him a few extra cheers, and there are two double passes for Puff's readers if they promise to do the same.

2. There are ten members in Thomas Mapfumo's band, so it's a bit harder for them to name themselves like that - they call themselves The Blacks Unlimited instead, and they'll be accompanying 'The Lion of Zimbabwe' on his Chimurenga tour of the country. Thanks to Zambezi promotions, there are three doubles passes to see one of Africa's greatest living musicians at The Gov on Wed 23 April.

3.Many years ago (about 50 to be precise), Jackie Gleason created The Honeymooners for one of his sketches, and they proved so popular that they eventually got their own show, in colour. Though Frenzor™ may look youthful, he remembers it well, and so was very pleased when the new DVD collecting nine episodes of the Jackie Gleason Show was released, and even managed to procure three copies to give away.

4. So you've heard everyone talking about the Persian Gardens? Of course you have - the rugs, comfortable booths and lanterns are exactly what the Festival Centre Amphitheatre needs, and if you want to see it for yourself on Sun 9 Mar, when DJ Nickodemus and Sunshine Brothers play, you'd better be quick to get your hands on one of five double passes.

5. So it's 2008 and there are still no flying cars or automatic marshmallow dispensers around, but The Chemical Brothers want to assure you that you are, in fact, living in the future. That's why they'll be paying at the Future Music Festival in the Garden of Unearthly Delights on Mon 10 Mar alongside a line-up including Sven Varth, John Digweed, Aesop Rock, Roger Sanchez and Datarock, and they've even offered to equip two intrepid time travellers with a double pass and 'Future Music Festival' CD each.

6. Some years ago, Scottish band Arab Strap managed to defy their name and produce some musical offspring in the form of the aptly named Sons And Daughters. Now that band are continuing to hold the torch for Glaswegian indie pop, making sure it burns brightly with their latest album, 'The Gift', and the kind folks at Domino have furnished us with five copies of that very release for lucky readers.

7. If rare groove on a 45 platter is your thing, you'd be best to keep Sat 8 Mar free for The Sounds Of Blackness at Caos Cafe, presented by Soul Underground. With several DJs presenting across the board rare soul in a vinyl format, there are an even half dozen passes for the quickest steppers in town.

Simple Plan are pretty proud of their latest album, which they've named after themselves (though they've opted for the conventional self-titled 'Simple Plan' rather than 'Simple Plan Jr.', much to Frenzor's™ chagrin) and they've made five copies of the limited edition version available. Head to dbmagazine.com.au to find out how you could become the proud owner of one.
