Prize Frenzy™!

Only last week we were wearing scarves, big jackets and thermals due to the severe cold, but now spring is here - finally, some blue skies and sunshine! Make sure to take advantage of the warmth, sit outside on the footpath with a beer and schnitty, and then hop along to a local venue to see some live music. And Frenzette has just the things to encourage - a whole galley of double passes to shows over the next few weeks that you, dear readers, can win. So after you finish packing away those winter woollens, call 8231 0881 at 1pm on Friday 7 September and stake your claim.

1. Emergency, emergency! (pardon the pun) - you better hop on this one quick! Thanks to Scorpion Entertainment we have three double passes to give away to see Adelaide's very own The Hot Lies launch their brand spanking new album 'Ringing In The Sane' at The Gov on Fri 14 Sept with Mere Theory and The Open Season. Matt Vesley speaks to drummer Jared Brown and frontman Pete Wood this issue, and ya can also check 'em out on the cover.

2. And if you'd like to get your hands on a copy of The Hot Lies' 'Ringing In The Sane' we have three copies to give away thanks to the good folk at Liberation.

3. On the back of their new album, Funeral For A Friend are once again faring us with their presence, playing Fowler's Live on Thurs 13 Sept with Bayside (US) and Dopamine (UK). Will Oakeshott chats to guitarist Kris Coombs-Roberts this issue, and we have three double passes to give away thanks to KMW Productions.

4. And while they're in town, Dopamine thought they'd do their own all-ages show for the punters on Fri 28 Sept at Jive. Matt Vesley finds out all about these Welsh rockers this issue, and thanks to the band and DSTAR Records we have a lovely lil' package to give away featuring a copy of 'Experiments With Truth' and a double pass to the show.

5. Locals Heather Frahn Trio have been busy putting away their new CD 'Synergy', which they're launching on Fri 14 Sept at Jive. You can read Steve Jones' interview with the trio this issue, and thanks to the band we have two CDs and two double passes to the show to give away.

6. Salmonella Dub, those popular guys from across the Tasman, have just released a new effort 'Heal Me', and we have five copies to hand over thanks to EMI. Check out the chat Alexis Buxton-Collins had with keyboard/trumpet guy Peter Woods this issue.

8. Adelaide lads Mere Theory have just dropped their new album 'Catalan Atlas' - Will Oakeshott chats to guitarist Nigel Black about the gruelling process of recording. Sydneysiders' favourite festival Parklife hits Adelaide for the first time this year, so now you can enjoy the very best of local and international hip hop, electro, house, breaks, beats and more amidst the beautiful trees of Botanic Park. Digitalism will be bringing their catchy electro pop to the day - you can read Julian Cram's chat with Ismail Tuefekci this issue. Put Sunday 23 Sept in your diary because we have three double passes to give away, as well as three Digitalism CDs, all thanks to Fuzzy. Snow Patrol return for their biggest tour yet, performing in arena stages across the nation, including Adelaide’s very own Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 12 September. Joining them will be American indie rockers Silversun Pickups and Irish singer/songwriter Iain Archer. dB recently had word that the show is very nearly, almost, and probably by the time this goes online, completely sold out. If you missed out, never fear, as just for dB readers we have a special online competition with five double passes to the show up for grabs. For your chance to win, email your contact details to frenzy@dbmagazine.com.au with the answer to the following question: What was the original name of the band and why did they change it?
