Dance News

Woo yeah! Spring time always brings the parties as people come out of hibernation from the chilly winter. Something sure to shake the winter blues is news that Enchanted have secured an outdoor venue only an hour away from the city that will allow them to throw a proper day/night party again! No acts have been announced, but given the line-ups of the last few years it's sure to be phenomenal! One rumour, straight from the keyboard of someone's precious kitten, is that Fat Boy Slim will be there... you just never know with the Enchanted crew!

As mentioned a few weeks ago, the Lockdown DJ competition is about to get underway. This time being held at HQ, this gives the up and comers a chance to play on one of the biggest sound systems in not only Adelaide but the Southern Hemisphere! First week starts on Fri Sep 14 and sees Skippy, Nemesis, DJ Stevie Dee and Scot Effect showing you their skills.

Following that is BlackLightBlu, now at HQ. To kick off this occasion BlackLightBlu brings something special - a night White full of Trance. What's a white party you ask? Why a night where everyone wears white, of course! Dr Damage will be playing a massive 3-4 hour, backed up by Solace, Statik & Mc Jules.

Inbound are planning to blow up another venue as they present Klute at Mojo on Fri 7 Sept. Klute is well respected in the d'n'b scene and this is sure to be a capacity event, so get your tickets as soon as you can!

Benga hits town on Sat 8 Sept, bringing the bass and swing of dubstep to Adelaide's Rhino Room. Benga is a leading light in this new form of dance music that's captivating ears and minds the world over.

It's been a long and cold winter, but the spring is about to be sprung by the Neon crew on Sat 8 Sept. Joining the purveyors of fine house is breaks DJ Lachlan Pender, showing that he's more than a one style DJ and transforming the Bull & Bear on King William St into a sultry speakeasy alongside residents Alex McKenzie, Mal Chia and Guyfi.

The second round of DJs in the Lockdown competition on Fri 14 Sep at HQ features an all d'n'b line up of DnB Dan, Radu, Beckon and Weez rocking the spot.

Right after sees the return of the popular DJs Delight. Loved by both the crowd for the excellent presentation of music and skills, and loved by DJs who get two hours to take the dancefloor where they want to, DJs Delight comes to HQ with Patch, MPK and John Doe kicking off the series!

Sat 15 Sept sees Sydney producers Pocket and Ken Cloud aka Poxy Music hit Adelaide at the Crown & Sceptre. With more remixes than you can poke a stick out, and their own production getting noticed around the world, it's a pleasure that ABC, Fibre Events and Neon Eletrik bring them over for your pleasure. Support from Jorge Watts, Mal Chia, Lachy Pender, Dusk & Alex Mckenzie.
