Powderfinger
 Powderfinger have been arguably Australia's most popular rock band of the past decade, able to straddle the diverse audiences of Triple J, who were the first to really embrace them, and latterly the more mainstream Triple M. A good test of popularity is to go away for three years - as Powderfinger have done - and return bigger and better. Their new album 'Dream Days At The Hotel Existence' has been critically acclaimed, and they are set to embark on an ambitious national tour with Silverchair, including gigs in regional centres under big tents where local venues aren't big enough. Yes, these are happy days for the band.

 After getting a lot of play around the office I was finally handed the new Tiger Army album. The staff did not want to let it go and were sure to tell me how good they thought it was.
The album starts quite hard, with the booming vocals of "Tiger Army never die!" in the prelude track moving into Hotprowl, the hardest song on the album. Sounding a lot like old Bad Religion they move quickly through the song, building a really good pace. This is totally destroyed when they attempt a breakdown and hardcore vocals which I am guessing are courtesy of Brandan Schieppati of metalcore band Bleeding Through. It is totally out of place and just leaves you wondering what the hell they were thinking.
