Calling herself the "new kid on the block", Petrina Egan has been announced as the new Publicity and Promotions Co-Ordinator at the Adelaide Festival Centre. Egan takes over from Penny Griggs, who in turn took on the role some months ago when she was drafted in to fill in the position left vacant when Cheree McEwin went off on maternity leave. Does this mean McEwin won't be returning to the 'Centre, having been seduced by the delights of child-rearing?
More staff changes: news up the hill at Carclew, a new editor for arts magazine 'Lowdown' has been announced. As long-serving editor Tony Mack rides off into the sunset, into town rides the new gun of the youth arts publishing market (or something), Jane Gronow.
Ausdance has announced that for 2007 'Dance Week' will be held from Mon 7 to Sun 13 May. In celebration there will be a host of scheduled activities, including Ausdance SA presenting a free dance performance on stage in the Rundle Mall under the Gawler Place canopy from noon on Sat 12 May. Hence, if you're in the mall and see whirling dervishes swirling before your eyes, don't immediately assume that you drank too much the night before. Or that your eyes need testing. That is all. From Tues 10 April the Grace Emily Hotel is the place to go to view a fascinating exhibition, 'The Masters & The Apprentice' It's a subtle play on words, one assumes, since this is an exhibition of live band photography from Julie Richards and Rodney Magazinovic (the masters) and Andrew P Stace (the apprentice). Keeping up with the latest in fine entertainment is a difficult job, that's why dB Magazine does a lot of the work for you. There is no harder job than keeping up with the ASO, who flit around the state from project to project: from the Bundaleer Forest Weekend to a collaborative recording and concert with the Hilltop Hoods (in May) and a little later in the year, in June, their own Sibelius Festival, which runs from Thurs 28 June to Sat 7 July. The brainchild of Arvo Volmer's, it'll be a celebration of Sibelius like you never could have imagined.
