Rob Hunter Is Shoes

Rob Hunter is relatively new to the Adelaide comedy scene and here the 2005 Raw Comedy state champion enters the Fringe Festival with his debut solo show, '...Is Shoes?'.

After what would have to be one of the longest and hilariously irreverent recorded opening sequences I've ever seen for any show, Hunter nonchalantly appeared on stage with toothbrush at the ready and drolly continued on as if nothing could ever be his fault. Topically, Hunter's wayward approach is both observational and philosophical and his delivery style is a masterful mix of deftness and daftness as he gently lures the audience in and out of each of his preposterously imaginative, yet indisputably astute one liners. Knock Knock jokes, bicycles, views from the moon and even question marks themselves were questioned during one muzakally backed segment entitled, 'What Rob Thinks'. And with cameo appearances from the Grim Reaper and Jesus played by a couple of offsiders, along with an onstage bicker with himself and a few other well placed visual and aural digressions from the standard stand up routine as well as not forgetting he calls his "big finish", Rob Hunter is definitely an emerging talent to watch.
