Justin Hamilton
Rhino Room
Wed 21 March
until Sat 31 March
Ex-pat Adelaidian and current patriarch and elder statesman of local comedy Justin Hamilton needs little introduction. And in his latest eponymous production Hamilton keeps the action moving thick and fast as he tells of his time growing up and going to school in Adelaide and relates back to the audience about having a crush on certain teachers.
Often referencing the 'seventies and 'eighties, Hamilton showed he was cleverly keeping touch with his larger demographic. Prone to drop big words like 'propensity', Hamilton displays his love and penchant for the English language without ever crossing over to pretention or belying his down to earth and blokey approach - he also openly gloats about snot and using the occasional C-bomb.
Often, as if he almost forgets there's an audience before him, Hamilton will lurch into almost animaltronic-like and heated one on one re-enactments with himself and other parties as recalls such events as his earliest drug taking experiences, outlaw bikie gigs and attending open coffin funerals. How would one rate his show? Simply: Za-za-za-zeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Five stars. There you go Justin mate, you asked for that and you most certainly deserve it.
