Tickets for the V Festival, dubbed the 'Mini-V' festival for Adelaide, have gone on sale and, whilst I'm a little miffed it's going to cost $200 to see the same acts as those in Sydney or Brisbane (where the charge will be only $130 because it's split over two nights), I'm still over the moon it's coming to our town in some form! Wed 4 April will be the one for dance fans, with Gnarls Barkley, Groove Armada and The Pet Shop Boys performing, although the Tue 3 April line-up, featuring The Pixies and Jarvis Cocker, will be off the hook too!
R/Evolution and Bass Element present Heaven vs Hell on Fri 23 February at Tonic. DJs Rya, Roost, Leezee, Fiction, Filter, Underground and D n Bassador will be playing some of the nicest liquid to the darkest death jungle with the night sure to please all d'n'b-heads.
The holidays are truly over, but don't let that get you down, because on Sat 24 February the Adelaide Uni O'Ball 2007 has secured some of Australia's biggest and well-known acts to create a musical spectacular! For those who like to get their pulses going, there's The Avalanches (DJ set), Regurgitator, DJ Brendon and DJ Josh.
Screening at 8.45pm on Fri 2 March at the Academy Cinema, as part of the Adelaide Fringe festival, is 'Words From The City' - a feature-length documentary exploring contemporary Australian hip-hop through intimate and candid observations of some of the nation's most compelling and in-your-face artists. Focusing on a diverse range of groups, such as TZU, MC Trey, Wire My Cuz, Koolism, Downsyde, and The Hilltop Hoods, 'Words From The City' explores the process of turning rebellion into a viable career as these bands attempt to cement their position at the vanguard of Australian hip-hop and the top of the charts.
For over a decade Ed Rush and Optical have been synonymous with the futuristic vibe of the darker sides of drum'n'bass. Ed Rush and Optical return to Adelaide on Fri 2 March at Earth Nightclub, with locals MPK, Fiction, Mark 7, Patch, Stryke and G Swift.
On Sat 3 March DJ Technikal from the UK is set to explode at the Gateway Night Club. As promised, the Gateway Night Club is set to bring you the best in international hard trance in 2007 and Technikal is regarded as one of the fastest growing trance stars in the scene today. He plays alongside Adelaide's finest on the night.
Lastly, my computer is in the shop, so apologies if you've emailed me something as I haven't been able to access my email! If you're spewing, spare a thought for me...No Internet and for nearly two weeks!
