Happy New Year everybody! This year kicks off my fifth year of doing the dance music write up and it looks like one of the best yet! Already we've got the Future Music Festival confirmed, with acts that we normally don't get to see in Adelaide, plus it's the complete line-up that all the other states get, which is a super bonus! Hopefully we'll get the V Festival and some of the bigger tours that the east gets, but don't forget we have some of the best homegrown shows too, like Stardust and Enchanted, for South Australians by South Australians!

The Jam at Mojo is getting better and wetter this year! Kicking off 2007 in style with DJs Grif, Crispin, Skippy and Toffee, playing the best in both house and garage, with Funky J supplying the breaks to wind down the night - Fri 12 January at Mojo.

The four finalists of the Fresh Fringe Spin 2007 competition will spin at Sugar on Fri 12 Jan. The winner of the gig will get to spin in front of 10,000 people at the Fringe Opening Spectacular in March, so get along and support the sounds you love!

Echo presents trance superstar Scott Bond on Fri 12 January in Gabriels Upstairs at HQ. Undeniably responsible for shaping the trance scene we know today, as well as being the man behind Gatecrasher. Don't miss your chance to see one of the top DJs in the world in a very special and intimate appearance at HQ. Support from MC Jules, Matt Parker, Solace, Statik, Cetra, Contagious and Kenny Koncept.

Also at HQ is Adelaide's hottest new house night, Soho Sessions, every Friday at Soho Bar. With an atmosphere of couches, cocktails and DJs, this lighthearted evening of friendly entertainment gives you the chance to let your hair down. Residents Discrete and Nate will spin for your pleasure!

Earth hosts AXIOM on Fri 12 January with two of the world's finest hardcore producers Megarave and Enzyme touching down in Adelaide for the first time. After playing at some of the biggest hardcore shows on the planet, such as Masters Of Hardcore, Megarave, Enzyme Injection and Incubation, Decibel, Thunderdome, Hellraiser and Nightmare, you now can witness these two massive artists alongside Adelaide's finest DJs, including AnarkI, Oddysey, Mr S, Adrian V, Devious, Axiomyx (a.k.a. Equinox), Evil D, Tantrum, Zyphor, Ism, H-Bomb with Mc Midnyte.

This summer the only outdoor all night party is Ultraworld in the country, on Sat 13 January! The venue is a nice green irrigated field with real toilets and a permanent stage set-up for the main room, with on-site car parking. Starting at 5 pm and ending 5 am the next day with full council approval, DJs on the night include Greg Packer (WA), Sarez, Cheeky B, Noddy, Patch, MPK, Del, Devious, Submission, Mark 7, Tactic, Slide, Pase MC and more to be announced. Tickets at Venuetix and maps available online at the usual websites on the day!

Inbound is kicking of their ninth year in the biz and they're returning to their roots with an all-local party at the Crown And Sceptre on Sat 13 January. Fiction, Filter, Patch and Macro will be joined by John Doe and Grimey for a wicked start to 2007!

Not much on the week after - I guess everyone is gearing up for the Australia Day long weekend, the Big Day Out and so on! I'm sure all the clubs and pubs will be doing their usual nights, though, and as always if you want your event listed here drop an email to funkyj@funkyj.com
