dB Readers' AwardsThe 2006 dBra Award Winners!

On Monday 4 December at the dB Magazine 400th issue celebrations, hosted by comedian Craig Egan at Fowler's Live on North Terrace, the winners of the 2006 dBra Awards were announced.

It's the fifth year for the dBras, the annual reader voted awards which are given for the best contemporary music in South Australia, as nominated and voted for by the readers of dB Magazine.

As might have been expected in such a blockbuster year, there was no stopping the Hilltop Hoods and their ARIA Award winning album 'The Hard Road', the band scooping three awards. But did they win the category of 'Best Band'? Not likely. In a very close finish they were edged out by another SA act who have had a sensational 2006, The Audreys.

In front of an invited audience of some 300 musicians, arts identities, writers, staff and some lucky readers, The Audreys performed a song from their ARIA Award winning album 'Between Last Night & Us'.

There were other performances on the night from Stephen Foster (winner of the 2006 APRA Country Song Of the Year) and newcomer Laura Hill.
