Whoops! I always seem to be a week ahead of myself! Last week I mentioned that The Jam would be held at Mojo on Fri 6 October, unfortunately I was wrong, but I'm hoping you went anyway to catch the superb '80s night they have there! But the correction has been made...The Jam, featuring DJs Grif, Crispin, Skippy and Toffee playing the greatest garage/2-step party music, as well as Funky J continuing the great breaks of the past week, will happen at Mojo on Fri 13 October.
Last year a group of like-minded ravers shared their birthdays and so MuntFest was born! Dalbz, Daana, Sogoob, Cris P, Sharan, Toby and Nickdub grouped together and formed an alliance that this year brings you MuntFest 2006, a night of hardcore beats pumping out non-stop classics and recent releases of all your favourite hardcore tunes. Featuring some of Adelaide's most popular hardcore DJs, including H-Bomb, Equinox, Hex, Delusion, NokturnL, Daana. It's all happening at the Col Light Hotel on Fri 13 October.
Three-time DMC champion, DJ Craze, performs alongside MC Armani, the UK's Brockie and Sydney's Murda1 with locals Snair (trick set), Madcap, Nixon, Static, Del, Mark 7, Havoc and Grimey on Sat 14 October at St Pauls.
Meanwhile, on Fri 20 October the Lockdown competition finals will be held at Club Feva! This fiercely fought competition sees Velocity, B@ch, Josty, ReLoad, Toffee and a yet-to-be-announced finalist (competition not complete at time of printing) battle it out for a set at an upcoming Enchanted thanks to the Enchanted Crew, vouchers from Inbound and Derringers, a merchandise pack from Enchanted and paid DJ sets at future Lock Down Promotions events. Should be an awesome battle, with a wide variety of music represented, so get along and support some up-and-comers!
Steve Strangis presents the Godskitchen Australia CD launch on Fri 20 October. Mixed by Above and Beyond with Steve Strangis, the CD features the best Trance has to offer. Strangis has played every major festival Australia has to offer including Gatecrasher, Slinky, Two Tribes as well as Godskitchen which has seen him play alongside of all the big names including Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk & Armin Van Buuren. Fibre presents Jimmy Van M on his Balance 010 tour. Last seen in Australia at the 25,000 person NYE Millennium event in Melbourne, Jimmy Van M has built a reputation on being among the most sophisticated DJs to date. Balance celebrates its milestone tenth release with Jimmy Van M's epic three-disc journey through two decades of electronic music, where legends like Brian Eno, Bill Laswell, Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada and Thievery Corporation cosy up alongside today's finest dance artists including Michael Mayer, Ellen Allien, LCD Soundsystem, Trentemoller, Booka Shade and Oliver Lieb. Catch him alongside locals Mal Chia and Steve Culgan at Sugar on Sat 21 October.
Emission at the Wakefield Hotel is proving to be quite popular and this time around they've upped the ante with some of the best DJs in Adelaide.
