'Two' is the tale of two beers, two blokes, two chicks, written by Jim Cartwright and directed in this performance by young theatre director Toni Main, who incidentally has also written the occasional review for dB Magazine. 'Two' performs at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, which is the perfect place for such a play, you'd agree. It's a sharp and touching slice of life set in a pub owned by an endlessly bickering couple. Over the course of a night a range of strange and wonderful characters - 14 characters are played by 4 actors - drop into the pub for a drink but leave their mark in humour and sadness with the audience. The season for 'Two' starts on Wed 11 Oct.

Visual artist Tracey Cornish, who manipulates digital photography for her exploratory artform, has a show called 'Intertwingularity' on at the Experimental Arts Foundation in the Lion Arts Centre, currently on display, and up until Sat 4 Nov.

A brief note to mark the passing of writer Gwen Meredith on Mon 3 Oct at the age of 99. The originator of the long running ABC Radio drama 'Blue Hills', Meredith's name means something to those of a certain age, as it should be coyly referred. In the 1960s and 1970s it seemed 'Blue Hills' was something you could not escape, the series running for what seemed to be three and a half centuries.

From today the Axis Gallery at The Parks is hosting an Exhibition of mixed media by local youth artists entitled 'Red Is The New Black'. A multi-art form project which involves high school students from the local Port Adelaide Enfield council area, this is the culmination of a five week project for the students, which showcases drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design and other art forms - including funky badges for sale in the 'Red Is The New Black' theme.

There's always something different on display at The Bay Discovery Centre at Glenelg, and this month it's 'Anytime', photographs of Glenelg's lesser known attractions by Cameron Lewcock, now showing in the Mezzanine Gallery. A locally based artist, Lewcock's practice has ranged from painting trompe l'oeil murals to graphic design and illustration to photography. He is also co-owner and operator of Zest Cafˇ Gallery, giving it a unique appeal, and this exhibition shows the Glenelg area from his particular perspective.

The AP Bond Art Gallery in Unley hosts its biggest exhibition of the year this month with 'PintupiArt2006', which runs from Thurs 12 Oct for a very limited two weeks only. This is a spectacular showcase of paintings from the internationally acclaimed company Papunya Tula Artists, who derive their name from Papunya, a settlement 240km north-west of Alice Springs. The exhibition will feature some 20 pieces from very well known Papunya Tula Artists. The image is an untitled work by Walangkura Napanangka.

Good news for the Fin!!! Though he's been living and writing in Tasmania of late we claim him as our own... young South Australian playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer's translation of Bertolt Brecht's 'Drums In The Night', which was commissioned by Brink Productions for its award-winning 2005 co-production with the State Theatre Company of South Australia, has been picked up by Tim Robbin's theatre company The Actors' Gang in Los Angeles to open in November 2006. Neat, huh?

There are rumblings in the arts community over a couple of recent funding decisions, principally over the loss of funding for the Bakehouse Theatre's season of new plays and performances, which put into immediate jeopardy their entire 2007 programme. This is not good news for actors and playwrights seeking to make a mark in their chosen field, and Puffio understands it's not a good thing for the Bakehouse Theatre, whose very future might be imperiled by this decision. Leaving aside the theatres at the Festival Centre, this news - together with the recent closure of the Promethean Theatre - effectively means there are no small to medium sized theatres operating within the city square mile. Madness!

Other rumblings are heard from the direction of Parallelo (formerly Doppio Teatro) who have been creating and performing cross cultural performances since 1984, but whose funding is believed to have been slashed.

The deadline is fast approaching for submissions to the 2007 Adelaide Film Festival, who wish to have a very good idea of local talent they'll be using by next week, namely by Mon 16 Oct. To have any chance of making the cut you'll need to know their submission guidelines, so get to www.adelaidefilmfestival.org pronto!

Here's an exhibition with a difference, and its opening night is on Fri 27 Oct at 7.30pm. At the Fad Bar & Gallery on Waymouth St, 'Maple Syrup' involves 31 artists from all over Australia, and is a showing of two loves: skateboarding and art. Each artist with a love for skateboarding has been given a deck to customize. The Maple Syrup team will also be publishing a calendar with some select works which will be available for purchase to make the artwork accessible to those who may not be able to afford the pieces which will be in the exhibition.
