7 Things To Do

Amanda Phillips & Frances d'Ath will perform 'Crush' at the Golden Grove Arts Centre on Thurs 12 and Fri 13 Oct, to be followed by Cultures Of The Body forum. The performance starts at 7.30pm.

The South Australian Children's Ballet Company perform their work 'Cinderella The Untold Story' at Union Hall at Adelaide University, on Sat 14 Oct, on which date there will be two performances: at 2pm & 7.30pm. On Sun 15 Oct there will also be a 2.00pm performance.

The 'Out Of The Square' programme has moved a step or two back in time with 'Shall We Dance', a performance which will entertain audiences with memorable tunes from artists such as Cole Porter, Glenn Miller and Henry Mancini. Guests can enjoy this spectacular concert from the comfort of their own seats, or they can kick up their heels and take a partner for a twirl or two across the dance floor. It's the age of the big band, presented by Timothy Sexton, soprano Deborah Caddy and the Adelaide Art Orchestra, performing at The Arts Centre, Port Noarlunga, on Sat 21 Oct at 7:30pm.

Did you know David Malouf, the author of 'An Imaginary Life' and 'The Great World', will be in town very soon to talk about his new book? He'll be in Adelaide on Wed 25 Oct from 6-7.30pm at Grainger Studio (ASO Headquarters in Hindley Street), and bookings are essential, through Imprints Books.

Matt Byrne Media storm the barricades of tasteful dance theatre with their production of 'Footloose' (yes the film which starred Kevin Bacon) which opens its season at the Goodwood Institute on Fri 13 Oct and then moves on to a season at the Shedley Theatre, Elizabeth from Thurs 9 Nov. What is described as "the ultimate 80s musical' stars Vince Fusco at Ren and Tegan Gully as Ariel.

As part of the Sunday fun at the Festival Centre there's free concerts from 2pm. On Sun 15 Oct that means Wasabi, a three-piece, semi-acoustic cover band will performing funky pop tunes on an outdoor stage; and on Sun 22 Oct The Beggars, an ARIA nominated group who blend the ancient tones of folk music with modern vibrations of country and pop.
7.
Garry McDonald stars as Uncle Vanya in the Checkhov play of the same name, which opens in the Playhouse at the Festival Centre on Fri 13 Oct.
