Wooo! Finally, the October long weekend! Bust out your bomber laces, puffa jackets and ol'-school tracksuits, as the breakbeat gods have blessed us with some of the finest exponents of the broken beat for the Breakbeat Block Party. The line up features The Beastie Boys' touring DJ and member of The Invisible Scratch Pickles alongside Q-Bert, Mix Master Mike, plus breaks supremo Krafty Kuts, d'n'b legend Fierce and local Aussies Kid Kenobi and MC Sureshock, who are all sure to give the new HQ a proper workout on Fri 29 September.
Fibre 002 presents Swedish Producer/DJ prodigy Petter Nordkvist, touring Australia for the first time this September. Nordkvist's music wears its diverse influences on its sleeve, fusing together techno, electro, dub, ambient, acid, breaks and deep house in his own unique style. The young Swede has also gained a reputation for his live DJ sets, an equally unique hybrid of electro-tinged, dubbed-out house and techno. Catch him alongside HMC and Mal Chia at Sugar on Fri 29 September.
Decibel X at Earth on Fri 29 September is for all of you that love your hard dance, hard trance, freeform and hardcore. Ranging from the tough trance beats of DJ Phat Controller, alongside the hard tunes of Cheeky B, Adrian V, Miss Em, Mr. S and Tactic, to the grinding basslines of DJs H-Bomb, Ism, Tantrum, Evil Dave, Tank, Provoke, Antics, Kritical and finishing off the night with Equinox, this is the party for those that like it dark and hard!
Kumfy Klub presents Klub Klassics at the Sceptre on Sunday 1 October. Come and enjoy a memorable retrospective journey through the music that has made their parties so memorable. The night kicks off from 7 pm with DJ Jason Lee spinning all the classic funk, soul, disco and grooves you've come to love. Then from 10 pm till late, DJ Smiley takes over, upping the tempo with all the dance-floor house, breaks and beats that have rocked Kumfy in the last eight years. Nico from The Levitators will be firing up the percussion too, ensuring an action-packed night for all you long weekend lovers! And best of all, it's free entry all night!
But don't think things are going to slow down the week after! Quite the opposite, in fact - kicking off with The Jam at Mojo on Fri 6 October. With DJs Grif, Crispin, Skippy and Toffee playing the greatest garage/2-step party music, as well as Funky J continuing the great breaks of the past week!
And those who love the beats harder, then head to the Gateway for Trancemit! Broadcasting live on Fri 6 October from Gateway night club, featuring three of the best hard trance/hard style export DJs Australia has to offer - Sydney's Tom E, Suae, Pulsar and locals Wad E, Gforce and Raiden, as well as special guest on the MIC, Obi. In a first for Adelaide, there will be a shout-out hotline where you can send a standard SMS (cost of a normal text message) to 0410 810 559 and MC Obi will happily read out your shouts.
