Metal News.

A couple of issues back, I mentioned a show being held at Fowler's Live on the 9th of August and I said that it'd be your last chance to see The Jonestown Syndicate for quite a while. Well, it turns out that this band will be doing another show in the near future after all, though unfortunately not for a terribly happy reason. A young girl by the name of Verity Discombe, who was a big follower of the local metal scene, died recently and her friends have arranged a tribute show in her memory. To be held at Fowler's Live on Sat 2 September, the all-ages event will feature The Jonestown Syndicate, as well as 1000 Nightmares, Locura, Her First Kiss and A Classic Tragedy. All proceeds will go to the Australian Red Cross.

A final reminder that the Lizard Lounge will be playing host to Hellfire on Sat 9 September. With Tasmanians Psycroptic headlining, the massive, all-ages show will also feature sets from The Rivalry, Sarsekim, Meat Wallet, Juggermath and Quasar, as well as rare performances from StarGazer and Darklord. Doors open at 4 pm.

The complete line-up for Swedish band Dark Tranquillity's all-ages show at the Adelaide UniBar on Sat 16 September has at last been confirmed; supporting acts will be locals Truth Corroded and Double Dragon. Truth Corroded have just finished a national tour and will be going ahead with a tour of Asia (where their latest release, 'Our Enemy Is The Weapon', is being distributed via Singaporean label Mourning Sound Records) next year. Truth Corroded have been added to the line-up for this year's Metal For The Brain (the last, apparently) and have entered a national/international booking agreement with Brash Entertainment, whose other clients include Psycroptic, Cannibal Corpse, Nile and The Black Dahlia Murder.

It appears that I was wrong in my assumption that Cannibal Corpse's show at Fowler's Live on Mon 9 October will be 18+ only; apparently, it'll be all-ages after all. Thank you to a Mr. Andrew Parkinson for e-mailing me and putting me right. Support acts are Tasmania's Psycroptic and Western Australia's Plague.

By the time you read this, Wednesday 13's new album, 'Fang Bang', will be available through Stomp Records. The group will also be doing a tour of this country late this year and/or early next year; here's hoping they don't forget to include us on the itinerary.
