Dance News.
These coming weeks will see a wave of nostalgia take over the clubs of Adelaide. Not only has the old Heaven re-opened under the new name of HQ, but it offers dance-heads the same Saturday night formula as before, though Daddy Randall returns for the first time in years to damage your mind-space once again!
The Enchanted crew are also taking you back to re-live the adventure with the appropriately-named 'Revlive' on Fri 18 Aug at Earth Nightclub. Enchanted began in a wooded valley in the Adelaide hills in 1998 and was host to some of the craziest antics and coolest music of the time. A year later the event was held up at Deep Creek Conservation Park and featured many people tripping up over roots and trees as they journeyed from stage to exciting stage. To re-live those memories the Enchanted crew have dug through their record boxes and will feature a line-up of Adelaide's finest who have played at one or both of these legendary events.
Having featured on the legendary AWOL album, 'Daddy' Randall has been a stalwart of the drum'n'bass scene. Anyone who witnessed his last set in Adelaide, when he came as a last minute 'replacement' for DJ Hype, will tell you the man has to be heard to be believed. Well, Adelaide gets its chance, only the second time ever, to see the big man of sound do his thing at Tonic Nightclub on Fri 25 Aug. Joining Randall are two of Melbourne's finest Finna and Safire and locals MPK, Patch, Noddy, Static, Nottes and DT3.
HMC's legendary epic sets are also well-known around Adelaide and you can catch the house master himself at the Bull And Bear on Sat 26 Aug with support from John Citizen.
After pulling out sick from his show last weekend, Dexter of The Avalanches notoriety is back on the decks at the Rocket Bar to scratch up a storm on Sat 19 Aug with supports Japeye and Brother Irwin.
Q-Project and Spinback are both set to rock the 'Sceptre with a cracking three-hour set this Sat 19 Aug. Read more about Total Science in our exclusive interview!
And for something a little different, Adelaide's only over-25s club that plays house classics through to smooth trance is on at Winston's Bar every Friday night. Winston's is a cool mix of elegance and ambience at 192 Pirie Street in the city.
And in what is great news for Aussie hip-hop, Mark B sends word via myspace that Adelaide boy Delta has just had his 'Lostralian' LP released across Europe on Mark B's label K Boro. This is a first for Australian hip-hop music!
