Running With Horses
Invisible (Single)
Independent
Disappointed - that's how I felt when I put on this CD. Why? Because what I thought was going to be at least a fully fledged EP turned out to be nothing more than a deviously tempting single.
So here I am with the task of writing 300 words on three minutes of music. There's not much to say really, except that 'Invisible' is the sweetest thing my ears have heard all day. Sarah Masters' could kill your cat, eat the last of your favourite biscuits, steal your boyfriend and borrow and stretch your favourite T-shirt - all in front of your very own eyes - then pick up a microphone and convince you that she'd done nothing wrong, such is the wide, bubble-eyed innocence inherent in her vocals.
Aidan Moyse, revered as one of Adelaide's most talented drummers, has little opportunity to display his unique skills but, that being said, his drumming is perfectly complementary to Masters' passive-aggressive guitar.
Running With Horses, a collaboration between two Adelaide musicians with a solid band back-catalogue, could never really go wrong, could it? It's simple but it works, it's quiet but catchy and the small twists feel good to listen to every time. The CD artwork itself is humble yet professional and even comes with a stallion surprise!
