Sandy Verschoor is the new general manager of the Adelaide Fringe, where she joins new Artistic Director Christie Anthoney. Verschoor was recently associate director and marketing/ development director of Arts Projects Australia, which runs festivals and arts events as Womadelaide, the Adelaide Film Festival and the Australian International Documentary Conference. Funnily enough, Anthoney is also a former staffer at APA.

A new exhibition of art at the Art Gallery Of SA is entitled 'The Most Delightful Thing on Earth' - it's the art Of Gladys Reynell, a South Australian potter. She was South Australia's first studio potter and a member of South Australia's famous Reynella wine-making family, who began her artistic career as a painter under the guidance of Margaret Preston, who became a lifelong friend. Together the two artists travelled to Europe and returned to Australia consumed with a Modernist aesthetic, inspiring Reynell to create innovative and distinctive earthenware with abstract designs and Australian flora and fauna.

The State Theatre Company of South Australia seems to have done rather well in nominations for the well respected Helpmann Awards, which will be announced in Sydney at the end of this month. In particular, State Theatre's 'The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?' from the 2005 programme picked up nominations for Best Play, Best Director (Marion Potts), Best Female Actor (Victoria Longley), Best Male Actor Support (Cameron Goodall). In Best Female Actor Support the nomination went to Michaela Cantwell in another State Theatre play, Martin Laud-Gray's 'Honk If You Are Jesus'. Congratulations and best of luck to all nominees, eh?

Taking a fresh look at two popular stories, the Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood, Splash Theatre Company's July school holidays season of 'What Big Teeth You Have!' is a wolf's eye view of these much-loved fairytales. This is a highly entertaining and funny piece of theatre suitable for 5 to 12 year olds, and performs from Tues 11 July at various venues around the city and suburbs.

Urban Myth Theatre Of Youth are having a fundraising evening with a special screening of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest', which stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom & Keira Knightley. The screening will be at the Capri (just up the road from UMTOY HQ) on Thurs 6 July - the screening starts at 6.30pm sharp. Drinkies beforehand!

The Art Gallery of South Australia is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Maria Zagala as its new Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings & Photographs. Ms Zagala has previously been Assistant Curator of Prints & Drawings at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, a position she has held since 1998.

In a real coup for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Stephen Kovacevich returns to the ASO for a unique Adelaide residency this month; and will delight Adelaide audiences over two weeks and two musical programs. The Kovacevich residency will begin with Classical Masters 1 on Fri 7 July, and Classical Masters 2 will conclude his exclusive Adelaide engagements the following week from Thurs 13 July. All concerts will be held at Adelaide Town Hall.

All Freakers, are hereby reminded that the Trasharama A-go-go touring Film Fest-evil has risen again (after extensive detox/rehab and therapy) from last year's successful Oz wide tour, and the intrepid heroes Dick Dale 'n'Jero are on the prowl for Australia's most sick and twisted short movies for the 2006 national tour. They say the deadline for all Cinematic disasterpieces is 14 August. For an application form check out the Trasharama website: www.trasharama.com.au
