Dance News.

I've always found it a bit weird when DJs are sponsored by large corporations. With someone like Q-Bert being sponsored by Vestax, it lends an air of authenticity to a product, but when it's a big corporation like, for example, Disney, it offends my leftist, 'dance is underground' leanings and makes me cautious. I guess no harm can really come from Ti‘sto remixing the theme from Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest', especially given that film's apparent break with the normal Disney process, but it still leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth to read in a press release that Ti‘sto continues "His association with Disney after his ground breaking DJ set at Euro Disney last year." Then again, Mickey Mouse is pretty ravin'.

Tekstyle returns, bringing the fresh sounds to Club Feva on Fri 23 June. Featuring some of the most experienced tech selectors in the game, Simon Lomax, Devious, Fatal Dose, Quantum, and Matt Abbot, this is a night sure to get the techheads moving!
Known for their thought provoking lyrics, tough beats & energetic live shows, the Hospice crew have earned a well-respected name for themselves amongst hip-hop fans Australia wide. Catch them at Earth on Fri 23 June. Support from Mindfield (filling in for the absent Adroit Effusive), After Hours & DJ Sanchez.

Sat 24 June sees the Girls From Venus Vs Boys From Mars at KARMA (Earth Nightclub). Featuring special guest DJ AMBER SAVAGE from Sydney, plus residents JoSH Vs RE, Lou Lou Vs C4, Madusa Vs Damage, Odyssey Vs Miss Em, Banshee Vs Mr S, and Cheeky Vs H-Bomb, plus the official launch of 'powder rooms' (whatever the hell they are!) this is a DJ battle to prove who is the fairer sex on the ones and twos.
Vibe returns for the first time in a while. After many a successful show over the past few years, the boys decided to give it a rest because of the amount of pure quality dnb rolling through Adelaide in recent months. Setting the standard for cool vibes, DJs Patch, MPK, Filter, Fiction, Static, Switch, Harass, Rebel, Del, Stylus and MCs X-Press, Stryke and Quantum will bring the dnb beats to Mojo on Fri 30 Jun.

The biggest party of the winter season happens on Sat 1 July. Winter Enchanted is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year, and this year sees a very impressive line up featuring Paul Glazby, Teebee, Alex Kidd, Black Sun Empire, Carbon Based Live, E-NRG DJ set, Bexta, Uraken, Stoneface, Terminal, Mike Humphries, Motion, Chris Liberator, Vic. You may notice that Kenny Ken isn't in that line up. Unfortunately he can't make it, so stepping up to replace him is the very capable Shock One. Venue Details still weren't available at the time of press, but rumours point to a half-size city block full of party goodness.

And remember, if you're driving to the party or a recovery, party responsibly because the new drug testing comes in on July 1, testing for marijuana or amphetamines in your system. Make sure you have a designated driver who doesn't indulge, or catch a cab, because police will be out in force.
