Metal News.
First up, apologies to anyone who rocked up to Fowlers Live on Sat 6 May for A Thousand Nightmares' CD launch, only to discover that it wasn't happening; the information I received about the event in question was incorrect! A Thousand Nightmares will instead be launching their CD at the Enigma Bar on Sun 11 June. Again, sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience that the above error may have caused. The earlier message was also incorrect in stating that A Thousand Nightmares would be launching their official clothing line at their CD launch. The band aren't launching a clothing line at all; instead, it's their sponsor, Sedate Clothing, who'll be doing that, at the same event. So hopefully that clears all that up.
On Sat 20 May the Enigma Bar will be hosting its third massive Metal on Vinyl sale. The free-entry event runs from 11am to 5:30pm.
New local band Dead Hours wish to let people know that one of the tracks from their debut EP, 'Derailed', is available for all to listen to on www.myspace.com/deadhours.
In an early announcement regarding the next War Room, comes news that it will be held on Fri 26 May at the Enigma Bar, and will see Melbourne grindcore acts The Day Everything Became Nothing and Fuck I'm Dead sharing the stage with local supports Meat Wallet, Los Diablos and Guantanamo Bay City Rollers.
After their drummer, Johno, seriously lacerated his right index finger on a broken beer glass in February, local band Omnium had to cancel numerous shows. Unfortunately, they're still not ready to resume playing (and have had to pull out of Brisbane's Brutal Fest next month as a result), but they will return to the live scene later in the year, when they'll be releasing the follow-up to their 2001 album, 'Rectifying Human Rejection'. The new album, their second, has already been recorded, and will be the first release of theirs to feature their new five-member line-up. In the meantime, check out a new version of their track Keys Of Opportunities by going to www.myspace.com/omnium1.
Truth Inc Records, a local record label run by members of Truth Corroded will be releasing local band Double Dragon's new EP 'Scars Of Fire' next month. Distributed via MGM, the release will have two official launches, occurring sometime around late June/July. For a sneak preview, go to www.myspace.com/doubledragonheavymetal to hear one of the EP tracks. Once they've launched the EP, the band will be undertaking an ambitious Australian tour which will take place in August and September.
In another bit of news from the label, Truth Corroded are planning a massive Australia-wide tour to promote their latest release, 'Our Enemy Is The Weapon'. During May and June, the band will be doing shows in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia, while the following two months will be spent performing in New South Wales and Tasmania, as well as Victoria and South Australia again. For more details on the tour, go to www.truthcorroded.com.
In further Truth Corroded news, 'Our Enemy Is The Weapon' will be released in Asia (via Singaporean label Mourning Sound) this month; an Asian tour will hopefully follow the Australian one. Finally, keep an eye out later in the year for the debut release of Wasted Gods, a grindcore outfit also signed to the Truth Inc label, and featuring members of Truth Corroded, Cry Murder, The Wolves and The Berzerker.
