Dance News.
All I can say is thank God that Mad March is over! There was just so much on, and even though I only managed to get to half of it, it was still way too much and I think I overdosed on awesome music! I need to spend a few weeks chilling out! Pity, because April isn't going to be easy on us either, with some massive acts touring in all manner of genres.
Sushi is new promotion crew aimed at catering for styles that
have been under represented in Adelaide, and their debut event
for 2006 is one the true superstar DJs of our era: Mr Paul Van
Dyk in a stunning three hour set, coming by on the back of his
new album 'The Politics of Dancing'. Catch him at Earth on Wed
29 March, supported by Damage, Josh, Mal Chia, Solace and Slide.
Another new crew are Transessions, party masters dedicated to bringing you the sounds of trance. Join DJs Moo, Gravity, Imol, and Left & Centre in the top room of the Worldsend Hotel on Fri 31 March.
This is no April Fools gag: The Hilltop Hoods are back with
their new album 'The Hard Road'. After giving you a glimpse
of their new material at the Big Day Out, they invite you to
become more intimate with a home grown show launching their
new album at the Adelaide University Cloisters on Sat 1 April.
Brooklyn Bounce returns to Black Cat on Sat 1 April, in support of his 'Sex, Clubs & Rock & Roll, the best of Brooklyn Bounce' long player. Head down to see why Dennis Bohn has been heralded as one of the best European dance acts for the past seven years.
Hot on the hills of the awesome Tayo show, breaks continues
its assault on Adelaide with one of the hottest breakbeat acts
to have emerged from the UK in recent times: The Breakfastaz.
You can see the dynamic duo of Gav and Froe (sadly Murph isn't
coming this time...) make their welcome return to Adelaide on
Sun 2 April at Rocket Bar, upstairs from Electric Circus.
Fer Rizzle My Nizzle, the Dawg's in da hizzle!!! One of the most recognisable figures of modern rap, the one and only Snoop Dog plays Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Thurs 6 April. Now, where did I put my gin and juice?
Lovers of dance and community television will be delighted to
hear that Clubaxis TV returns to Channel 31 at 10.30pm on Fri
7 April. Now with Sydney added to its coverage of the dance
scenes in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane its coverage
of the national club circuit is even more comprehensive, and
its return will include coverage of Japan's Solstice Music festival,
Earthcore in Melbourne and Sydney's Embrace event, as well as
interviews with Tiesto and the Carwash Crew. What better way
to fire up on a Friday night?
And in a bizarre coming together of my two favourite things - games and music - Depeche Mode have recorded a tune off their last album 'Playing The Angel' entirely in the made up language of the Sims. Suffer Well has been transpoken to Simish, and included on the new Open For Business add on for the popular PC game 'Sims 2'. And I thought it was awesome when Coldcut's True Skool featuring Roots Manuva came blaring at me when I started 'Fifa Street 2'!
