Hey, don't get too messed up this Friday night, as there's a state election happening, and you need to make intelligent and informed decisions on Saturday. With all parties adopting a 'tough on crime' mentality, and a misconception that dance music and illegal activity are intrinsically linked, it'd be wise to examine what the pollies are really saying and doing because whomever you vote for is probably going to have some kind of impact on the music scene as a whole in Adelaide.

Hey, guess what? It's my birthday! WOO! And to celebrate I'm working! WOOHOO! But it's the fun kind of working - I'm DJing at the Cumberland tonight (Wed 15 March). To make it even more special I'll be DJing drum'n'bass, which is something I only do very rarely, but after the positive reception I got playing at the Silent Disco at the Big Day Out, I thought it'd be nice to play some again. I'll be joining Stryke and Grif, both of whom also celebrate their birthdays in March, so it should be a very happy show!

Combining live Tabla percussion, slamming drum'n'bass and visuals courtesy of VJ Soi of Japan, UK based Producer/DJ/tabla player Talvin Singh brings his sophisticated blend of classical Indian and dance music to Adelaide on his first ever Australian tour. Catch them performing at Thebarton Theatre on Fri 17 March.

Feel like going on a road trip? Jungle in The Outback is taking place at the Vines Nightclub, Berri on Sat 25 March. Enjoy a host of Adelaide's freshest DJs rinsing beats from the musical delacacies of funk house, hip-hop, breaks and drum'n'bass. Your selectors include Switch vs Stylus, Funky J, Del, Uncle Lou, Rya and MC Moore. Road trip!

On Fri 17 March Fresh follows up on the massive success of the Logo Launch Party last year by celebrating it's 8th Birthday at Tonic! Celebrations begin at 9pm, and feature Fresh's best DJs covering d'n'b, house, trance, hip hop, hard and most other styles you hear on Fresh's specialist shows. Entry includes a free subscription redeemable at Fresh, and of course Fresh members will get in free. Be sure to tune in to Fresh 92.7 FM for more details.

The Playtime boys aren't ones to rest on their laurels. After the success of the LTJ Bukem/DJ SS show, they're bringing DJ Friction and MC SP down to Adelaide to wow us with their three-deck show! They'll be preforming alongside Adelaide's best d'n'b DJs at Black Cat on Mar 17 March.

The masters of d'n'b mayhem Noisia hit Adelaide for the first time on Fri 24 March at Black Cat Nightclub in what is sure to be an absolute stormer of a d'n'b show, supported by Kiddo (Luke B) from Melbourne, Mark 7, Fiction, Filter, Jason, Vilen and Restless.

Both Neophyte and Promo have been at the very forefront of the Dutch hardcore scene, leading the charge with their own unique styles of the music form. See them perform at Earth Nightclub for Insurrection on Sat 24 March with Adelaide's finest DJs including H-Bomb, Equinox, Adrian V, Mr S, Evil Dave, Ism, Odyssey, Cheeky B, Miss Em, Banshee, Tantrum, Provoke, Tank, Jesta and Torque.

And, in what seems to be becoming a habit, I'm ending this week's news off on a sad note. Joel Rabone, bar manager at Mojo West on Hindley Street, sadly passed away after being involved in a car accident last week. As I was quite often the first to get to Mojo when I was gigging there, are quite often last to leave too, we developed a rapport over the years. Joel was a friendly, helpful young bloke, and he always had time to chat over an early beer or two. He will be sadly missed by co-workers, patrons, family and friends alike.
