Prize Frenzy™!
Hi, you've reached Prize Frenzy™. No-one can take your call at the moment, partially since you should be calling 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 10 March but also because there's been a bit of an accident with Frenzor™ that's involved the burning and the fire and the vats of explosive unguents that we use to keep him firm yet supple - look, long story short, everyone's pretty much burned to a crisp here and Frenzor™'s interviewing for new, more fire-resistant staff (and if you're wondering therefore how we recorded this message, it's because we prepared it years ago: it was bound to happen sooner or later). Anyway, we've still got loads of things you can win, so rather than waste your time with crying over our departed souls and bemoaning the futility of our sacrifice, you could be making your bid on your choice of the following:
1. Scott Berry reckons that Placebo's new album 'Meds' is pretty damn rad - in fact, so convincing was he that we made it this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too' and EMI backed it up with several copies thereof.
2. Matt Vesley gets the lowdown from Matchbook Romance about the mysteries contained in their new album 'Voices', and you can explore along with him by grabbing a copy thanks to Shock.
3. Gyroscope also talk it up with Matt Vesely this issue, and Warners mark the meeting of the minds with copies of their brand new Fast Girl/Beware Wolf double A-side single, courtesy of Warners.
4. Eddie Chan enjoys a civilised tipple with Belittle League in this issue, and you can grab yourself a copy of his excellent new disc 'Backup', thanks to the man himself.
5. The Whitlams is coming! They've got a new disc out any second (the double-album 'Little Cloud') and will be at the Governor Hindmarsh on Fri 5 May - and Ferris Davies PR are building up what we in the music biz call "buzz" by giving away three double passes to said gig all these weeks in advance. Take advantage!
6. Steve Jones talks to a bona-fide music lengend in the form of Dave Stewart, one half of The Eurythmics, and not-coincidentally we have copies of their new best-of 'The Ultimate Collection' up for grabs, thanks to SonyBMG.
7. Fond of Psycroptic? Well, Stomp has the prize for you: two double passes to their show at Enigma Bar on Fri 10 March, at which you can have your photo taken with the band and get things signed. Stomp, that's a prize and a half right there.
8. Want something Fringey? We've also got four doubles to the Sat 11 March session of 'Britcom' with Stephen K Amos and Rhod Gilbert at the Arts Theatre: it's on at 8.15pm, Mr Amos speaks with Darien O'Reilly in this issue, and it's all thanks to Neil Ward Publicity.
Online Only Frenzy™!
You've read Suzy Ramone's review of the 'All Dolled Up' documentary on the New York Dolls in this issue and thought "why, I'd enjoy this slice of rock'n'roll history!" And you would: and MRA are prepared to facilitate this via several copies of said disc. First five people to email andrew@dbmagazine.com.au with the answer to the question "What the hell does Buster Poindexter have to do with the New York Dolls?" gets themselves a disc.
