Somewhat Secret Secret Society Show
The Garden Shed
until Sun 19 March
As part of their introduction, Andrew McClelland and Lawrence Leung made all present swear under oath, with the penalty being death, that we shall not divulge anything of their show outside the venue. I now take that risk.
With the adept, though highly questionable application of PowerPoint and the sacred gong of uncomfortable silence, this Melbourne pair of mischievously geeky tweed clad upstarts take us through the shrouded underworld of clandestine cults and surreptitious societies in an uproariously intelligent, if not historically fudged hour that's sure to educate and entertain. Who else can take an annoying prank call to the Order Of Free Gardeners Society and effortlessly segue into an obscure Grandmaster Flash reference, leave alone make connections to the collective minds of Francis Bacon, Plato and Plastic Bertrand?
Exposing the hidden, new world order driven agendas of world leaders and nutters alike, no secret is sacred - or safe - as they cast their all seeing eyes towards the shadowy likes of John Howard, George W Bush, Charles Manson, and [Ohhhh!] the Kleagles. This is high order comedy people, but be warned: Don't drink the Lemony Kool-Aid.
