Dave Bloustien 'ST*RF*CK*R'
Bin 273
Wed 1 March
Dave Bloustien may not be as famous as he wants to be, but that doesn't stop his aspirations. He also thoughtfully targets those who, by good looks, nepotism or just old fashioned talent and infamy got there before him. 'ST*RF*CK*R' finds our largely overlooked protagonist not so much bemoaning his lack of fame (that he accepts) but intelligently exploring the flipside of celebrity whether it be from a glossy tabloid point of view or by default. Like South Australia and our reputation for bizarre murders, something Bloustien offers a logical explanation for our relaxed laws and freely available Arts grants, and believes that such choices are secretly hidden in our tourism advertising.
If you're well known and newsworthy; be it the Bali Nine, Kerry Packer or Kylie's breast cancer and her evil sister Dannii or even Jesus and the Pharaohs, you're at risk of falling prey to Bloustien's skewed sense of benevolence - rather than malevolence. You see, Bloustien may not be entirely nasty on the surface and even nice guys are entitled to their opinion. A definite must see amongst the stand up comedy circuit.
