Circus Ole
Sideshow Paradiso
until Sun 12 March

When we say "G'day", you say "Ole!", came the repeated catch cry throughout this comical family friendly circus, and it's an absolute hoot.

After entering the grounds of this outdoor, mini-spectacular you take your place on the grass and wait for the show to begin; amongst the crowd are a couple of overgrown peckish chickens and then the Farrelli family are introduced by a very irritating giant purple costumed MC. All sporting old styled circus costumes, seriously bad 'seventies haircuts (God, I hope they're meant to be deliberate) and overtly smug body language and looks on their faces, the Farrelli siblings perform plenty of impressive acrobatic, trapeze and trampoline feats, backed by an appropriately cheesy keyboard.

Then there's some very unusual animal performances involving seagulls, dancing cows, a pair of rare imported big brown Chinese dogs and a cutesy little white one, and a man eating crocodile named Johnny and also an African elephant from Africa; though I must add that no animals were hurt, or actually used for that matter, in this production. Without giving away the ending, I will say the outro would have to be the most hilariously awful I've ever seen, and that's where Circus Ole is definitely ideal for big and little kids alike.

As one woman put it as we stood to leave, "That was hysterically corny." And that sums the show up perfectly.
