Adelaide Fringe Festival 2006

Best Of Adelaide Comedy
Rhino Room Until Sun 18 March

Adelaide has some bloody funny buggers, no joke! And you can sample much of our raw talent by getting along to witness a revolving line up that includes Big Al, Ben Darsow, Average (The Band), Jason Chong, Jarrod Fitch, Scott John, Rohan Harry and Hawaiian born, Kehau Jackson. On the night we got along the show got underway with the Northern Suburbs biggest export, Big Al. This guy is not only fuckin' fat, he's fuckin' hilarious, I kid you not. Often you hear outsiders to our city make the obvious references to Elizabeth but take that even further by actually being from there and obese, along with have the most incredible spontaneous laugh you're ever likely to hear - you get the idea.

Kehau Jackson was next and as a new immigrant, and in keeping with the Adelaide theme of the night, she does her best to defend our reputation as being a boring place to live, though she does uncover a few, original and embarrassing home truths. Scott John may have a penchant towards koalas and an adversity to Jetstar but he sure don't know shit about Ted Danson; that's despite having written his unauthorised biography. Jason Chong: another name I'm sure you'll hear more of. Half Chinese and half Australian, he combines both his right and left side driven cultures to humorously turn his general racist nature against himself. His Kasey Chambers inspired song that depicts this dilemma is absolute gold. I've laughed a lot so far this festival, and the standard was definitely maintained here.
