Local band The Loving Tongue will be showcasing some new songs at the Squatters Arms Hotel on Fri 3 March with The One Within and local thrash metal veterans Val Hull; The Loving Tongue will also be heading to Sydney in May to do a show at the Metro.
Fellow locals Raven Black Night were one of 16 new and up-and-coming
bands to be featured on a compilation that came out with the
Dec/Jan issue of Heavy magazine, a publication from Germany
(one country where the band have apparently gained something
of a cult following). The group also scored second spot for
"The Best Metal Release of 2005" in Ray's Realm, a metal webzine
from the US, with their debut full-length release, 'Choose The
Dark' (a follow-up to which will hopefully be recorded this
year). The band will be playing an all-ages show on Sun 2 April
with Mythica (other acts and the venue, to be announced), and
are considering doing a Melbourne tour in May.
After breaking for the Fringe, monthly dark dance event Necromancy will return on Sun 25 March at the Enigma Bar. As well as loads of tunes, old and new, from DJs Empusa, Azureus and Pandemic, the show will feature Hammer Horror Classics on the big screen, drink specials and tons of giveaways, including CDs, DVDs and the like courtesy of Roadrunner Records; piercing vouchers courtesy of Body Cult; and collectable figures courtesy of Collectable Kaos. In addition, the first fifty people through the door will receive a Dresden Dolls DVD, while there will be Opeth giveaways happening later on in the evening to mark the return of this band to Adelaide in April.Get your weekly dose of "dark danse" music by tuning into 'Synthesized Existenz' on 3d Radio every Saturday night, from 10 to 11 PM.
It seemed, not so long ago, that Adelaide would be experiencing
something of a drought as far as visits by touring overseas
bands were concerned, but I've been receiving a lot of welcome
announcements about acts from abroad who've remembered to include
us on their respective itineraries. The latest such act is Swedish
"revolutionary, anti-capitalist, Marxist, Communist rock band"
The (International) Noise Conspiracy, dubbed "rock's most politically
radical band" by the LA Times. According to another source,
"everywhere INC goes, [lead singer Dennis] Lyxzen invites fans
to put on their dancing shoes and shake their hips, a request
that concertgoers are powerless to decline when confronted with
INC's high-energy R&B meets punk-rock attack." The (International)
Noise Conspiracy will be playing at Fowlers Live on Tues 11
April; tickets go on sale on Thurs 2 March.
