Sam Simmons 'Tales From The Erotic Cat'
Garden Shed
everyday until Sat 18 March

Immediately, this rates as one of the most offbeat, oddball and definitely most original and funniest shows I've ever seen. What can one say about a rather dorkish man who - from the edge of the stage - stands there and after giving you a brief but very comprehensive run down of his entire life from conception to right up until he turned twenty-five, begins to use childishly drawn cartoons on a flip board to tell you everything you didn't want to know about him.

He is surprisingly well sung, but musically bland and he dances terribly to songs (and the occasional cardboard cut out puppet). Here is a man who lists one of his greatest adolescent achievements as learning to write the word 'boobs' on his calculator and takes great pleasure from playing made up games like 'Wood, Wood, Not Wood' and 'Connect Four' in the nude and believes that his grandmother yells out obscenities every time someone in the world steps on an ice cream cone.

Here is a man who sings songs about chutney, Kenyan bread and crick necked cave women and actively taunts sales assistants at $2 shops and, I kid you not, uses his face to play jazz and was once a contestant on a TV game show where the winner gets to yell at a cat...

Here is a man who simply is bizarre. And bizarre is all one can say really.
