Prize Frenzy™!

You might think, what with dB Magazine going weekly over the Fringe and Festival period, that this might lead to some sort of slacking off on Frenzor™'s part: maybe he'd go every second issue, say, since it's a big job for a scaly, horned gargoyle beast to gather up the excellent range of free stuff every seven days. Well, that's seditious talk and you'd do better to keep your mouth shut, frankly: Frenzor™ will be bringing the good stuff every single issue, and anyone who suggests otherwise is looking to disappear mysteriously in a ball of flame. To that end, ring 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 24 Feb and make your play for your choice of the following:

1. Let's get you in a Fringe mood with the freakin' brilliant Rhino Room Comedy lineup (proudly presented by dB Magazine, don't you know): we have three double passes to every single show on Tues 28 Feb, meaning that you can score yourself tix to see Tom Gleeson's 'Non Stop Tom', Lehmo's 'Christmas In Baghdad', Justin Hamilton in 'Smash!', Charlie Pickering's 'Betterman', Terri Psiakis's 'Available', Michael Chamberlin's 'The Ten Commandments' 'The Return Of Mickey D', and Craig Egan's 'Make Some Noise'! Now, that's a whole lot of comedy: names your show, you gets your ticket.

2. Ask Wade Howland if he thinks that The Arctic Monkeys are overrated. Go on, just try - after all, his review of their 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' is this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too', smart guy, and EMI are backing up his praise with copies of said album for your hype-confirming pleasure.

3. Nina Bertok chats it up good with Irrelevant in this issue and Resist back her words up with double passes for their show at the Enigma Bar on Sat 4 March.

4. The Dolls tell Steve Jones all about their Fringe Show 'The Dolls in Freudian Slips' and you could be seeing the them make with the slipping at the Queen's Arms on Tues 28 Feb by grabbing a double to the show, thanks to the Dolls.

5. The Pixies 2004 reunion tour has been immortalised on Digital Versatile Disc (or, as it's popularly known, DVD), is reviewed in this very issue and Warners have kindly put a couple of copies of 'The Pixies Sell Out' DVD up for grabs.

6. In this issue you will read - and, what's more, enjoy - interviews with Pretty Girls Make Graves and Les Savy Fav, who are headlining shows at Jive on Wed 1 March and Thurs 2 March respectively as part of the separate-but-equal Two Timing Tour. We have a couple of doubles for each show up for grabs, thanks to Popfrenzy.

7. Or maybe you'd like a sweet Ask Entertainment pack containing a Danny Bhoy bag, badges and a double pass to My Bhoy's show, as well as a double to shows by his Ask-mates Eddie Perfect and The Kransky Sisters, as interviewed within. We've got three packs up for grabs, thanks to the good folks at Ask.

8. Andrew P Street gets all droll with We Are Scientists in this issue and EMI mark the occasion with fancy 7" vinyl singles of Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt. Nifty!

9. Scott Berry enjoys a moment with Scandinavian soft pop sensations the Acid House Kings, and Popfrenzy celebrate with copies of their 'Sing Along With The Acid House Kings' disc for your gentle listening pleasure.

10. And the Fringe goodness continues with The Scared Weird Little Guys: we've got two doubles to the Tues 28 Feb preview of their 'Mindless Stupidity For The Thinking Person' show, thanks to Jane Intini.

Online Only Frenzy™!

The winner of the inaugural Australian Music Prize is about to be announced and the Frenztron6000™ has "acquired" a pack containing all eight finalists for one lucky winner thanks to Jones PR. Yep, that's discs by Wolfmother, TZU, The Go Betweens, Ben Lee, The Mess Hall, The Drones, The Devastations and Tex, Don & Charlie. And all you have to do is answer these eight questions correctly!

1. How many times have Wolfmother played the Adelaide Big Day Out?

2. Who (supposedly) wrote 'The Art Of War'?

3. 'Oceans Apart' is the third Go Betweens album since their reformation. What are the titles of the other two?

4. What was Ben Lee's first band?

5. Cec Condon left what band to join The Mess Hall?

6. What's the full title of The Drones' album?

7. Once upon a time The Devastations boasted 14-odd players. How many full-time members are there these days?

8. Don Walker from Tex, Don & Charlie is rather well known for his work in another seminal Australian band. What is it?
