Metal News.

All those who attended Polish black metal band Behemoth's show at the Enigma Bar on Fri 6 Jan should be pleased to know that their presence and enthusiasm were very much appreciated by the international visitors. After completing their Australian tour, Behemoth issued a press release which stated in part: "This was probably the best tour we did for this record ['Demigod']... To ALL the crazy fans that showed up: u guys made this tour! It was not about us, it was about YOU and YOUR devotion! We can't wait to conquer u all once again! Respect & horns up!!!" To read the full statement, and view pics from the band's Australian tour, go to www.behemoth.pl.

In another of those occasional announcements that's best repeated verbatim: "Adelaide outfit Mournful Congregation have been nominated for the 2005 Metal Storm Awards in "The Best Doom Metal Album" category for their recent album, 'The Monad of Creation'. Voting has commenced and will run throughout February at www.metalstorm.ee/awards/index.php, with the winners being announced in March."

On Fri 10 Feb, Truth Corroded play their first show for 2006 (and their first show with new drummer Sven Hentschel) at the Enigma Bar with Double Dragon, Jessica In Pieces, and the Guantanamo Bay City Rollers. Truth Corroded's latest release, 'Our Enemy Is The Weapon', will soon be available in Asia through The Mourning Sound, as well as on I-Tunes via MGM/Apple. The band are also currently organising European distribution for the album.

On Sat 11 Feb, there will be an all-ages show at The Underground featuring Through Closed Eyes, The Jonestown Syndicate, Embured, Abandon All Hope and All She Ever Wanted. Doors open at 7:30pm.

On Sat 18 Feb, Fowlers Live will play host to "Incineration", an all-ages show featuring Obsidian Aspect, Quasar, Beyond Mortal Dreams, Imminent Psychosis and Sarsekim. Doors open at 7pm.

Another reminder that American band Against Me! will be doing their second Australian tour next month, playing an all-ages show here on Thurs 23 Feb at the Enigma Bar, with support from Brisbane punk band The Disables and Melbourne's A Death In The Family
.

On Fri 24 Feb, The Underground will play host to the all-ages "Graveyard Gunfight" featuring The Borderland, Wishlist, 919, Day on Fire and Hearts 'N' Chaos. Doors open at 7pm.

On Sat 4 Mar, Sydney "post-hardcore pioneers" Irrelevant will be doing a show at the Enigma Bar. More details as I get them.

Once again, an early reminder of Parkway Drive's All Ages Assault Tour. This two-month tour will see the band paying a couple of visits to SA: on Sun 26 Mar, they'll be playing at Fowler's Live, while on Fri 28 Apr and Sun 30 Apr, they'll be playing at the Mt Gambier RSL Club and Whyalla's Westies Football Club, respectively.

After receiving numerous press releases concerning tours of overseas bands who'll be coming to Australia but not bothering to play here (bastards!), I was pleasantly surprised that there is at least one group whose Australian tour plans include Adelaide. Sweden's Opeth are returning, and will be doing an all-ages show at the Thebarton Theatre on Fri 21 April. Tickets are already on sale, and probably best purchased ASAP, given that this group's shows are notorious for selling out.
