Big Day Out Art Competition: The Verdict!
There's no doubting you people: when the call goes out for entries
in dB Magazine's annual Big Day Out Art Competition we always
wonder how the field can possible match that of the previous
year, but each time you dazzle us with your artistic marvellosity.
The 2006 competition was hard-fought with around 40 pieces vying
for our attention, but there can only be one winner. Or to put
it another way, three...

Our runners up were Natalie Berry, entering all the way from
Queensland with her White Stripes-themed piece (which was a
very popular motif, might we just add) and Dane Oliver, who
got all collagey up in our grill with his psychedelic art. But
the 2006 winner is Rosie Hunt, whose oil painting is not only
a beautiful thing in itself but also tickled our post-modern
funnybones with its impressionistically parodic overtones.

All three score a double pass to the BDO, with Ms Hunt also
getting a pack containing more CDs than she can be reasonably
expected to listen to before the show - and once again, it's
all thanks to the fine people at both the national and South
Australian Big Day Out office, especially the always-charming
Patti Revson and Kathleen Evans. Yay art!
