Further! Further
Further!
Chatterbox

I could have sworn these guys were American. Perhaps it's the high quality CD cover and decent sized liner notes, or maybe it's because they've been around for eight years or so and I've never heard of them. Hailing from Sydney (maybe that's why I haven't come across them before?), Further are now up to their fifth release, a full length album full of hard rock and rocking hard.

Subconsciously it speaks of ...Trail Of Dead, especially Attack On Peril Isle's half spoken verses that lie atop thick guitar and nestle between barked vocals. The music is too straight to be ranked along with Les Savvy Fav but there is an element that sets it aside from mainstream Aussie rock (maybe that's why I thought they were American?).

Wishlist heaves itself into digestible, impressive rock country, comfortably spanning the distance between art rock and cliched chords making for a proud single. I don't know whether I like The Last Request, with its slow, dragging vocals (possibly in a key too low), but it definitely deserves a place on 'Further!' as does Fools In Love with its surprisingly summery feel. 'Further!' is a notable release worth lending an ear to; they just may be the Ameristralian band you were looking for.
