The Fuzz
100 Demons
Reverberation
The debut album for the Fuzz is an electrifying rush from start to finish. These winners of Triple J's 'Unearthed' competition in 2002 have recorded their long awaited album with producer Anthony The (Sarah Blasko, Darren Hanlon), and it's a solid, rockin' effort.
Vocalist Abbe hollers over distorted riffs, displaying influences
such as the Stooges, Joan Jett, AC/DC and the Hellacopters, and the
result is one massive power trip. Full Piss starts off the album with
anthemic style, giving way to the latest single'You Must Be Dead,
which constantly breaks into clashing guitar riffs. The tune boasts
great rhythm and attitude, sounding like the Vines thrown together
with the Donnas. Chuck is heavily influenced by AC/DC, from the simple
yet effective guitars to the way female vocalist Abbe's snarls take
over. Long Wheel Base Blues is the only song that even slightly
slows down to give a much-needed breather around the middle of the
album. It features good lyrical output from Abbe, yet the band fail
to deliver the ballad which this album so desperately needs. Because
the album is so high speed and doesn't include anything laid back,
it starts to have quite a repetitive feel about it and there is no
progression. Nevertheless, this album includes some good, rocking
tracks and in all '100 Demons' is an acceptable debut album for the
Perth quintet.
