Metal News.

The next War Room will be taking place at the Enigma Bar on Fri 23 Sept with Victorian visitors Five Star Prison Cell (who played here with Walk the Earth back in March) and Tension. Local supports for the night will be new outfit Torn From Rest and Meat Wallet (who will soon be heading East on a tour with ex-locals Captain Cleanoff), and there will also be lots of Earache giveaways.

A reminder that on Sat 24 Sep, there will be an all-ages show at The Underground featuring Impartial, Fall Of Reason, Ghost Of A Chance, Locura and Beautiful Nightmare Of Mine.

In another of those announcements that's probably best repeated almost word-for-word from the original message, "Punk'n'Grind hits Lizard Lounge on Fri 30 Sept when local socio-political grind fiends Meat Wallet create chaos with death core lads Equal Minded, crust groovers Whoregasm, and the purveyors of punk ethos, The Jerks and I'm Gonna Fucking Kill You."

Also on Fri 30 Sept, US thrash band Toxic Holocaust will be doing a show at Le Rox/Bridgeway Hotel with local supports Raven Black Night, Cauldron Black Ram and Juggermath. Apocalyptor Records merchandise will be available for sale on the night. Toxic Holocaust's latest release, 'Hell on Earth' is out now through Nuclear War Now! Productions.

Alternatively, you may prefer to spend Fri 30 Sept at the Enigma Bar checking out Boston "mosh-metallers" On Broken Wings, who will be undertaking their first-ever Australian tour. Playing with the band at their all-ages show here will be national supports Carpathian, as well as Through Closed Eyes and Cry Murder. On Broken Wings' latest album, 'It's All A Long Goodbye' is out now on Eulogy Recordings/Stomp.

The October long weekend sees the return of Swine Fest. Held at Fowler's Live on Sat 1 Oct and Sun 2 Oct, this all-ages metal and hardcore festival will feature a few Victorian acts, as well as many locals. Saturday's bands will be Truth Corroded, Tidal, Diatribe, Double Dragon, Omnium, Skintilla, A Red Dawn, Distorted Minds, 21 Division, Horrific Penetration and Intended Victim, while Sunday's line-up will comprise The Jonestown Syndicate, The Rivalry, Later That Night, 1000 Nightmares, Impartial, Undermined, Jessica In Pieces, Her Latest Flame and December In Ruins, as well as Victorian visitors Bind Torture Kill, Drop Gauge and One Dead Dream. Doors open at midday both days and the first 100 through each day will receive a free sampler CD.

On the subject of one of the above bands, Distorted Minds are currently looking for a new bassist. Applicants for the job must be interested in emo/hardcore/metal music; be totally dedicated to rehearsing, performing, recording and touring and have sufficient equipment to play live. Interested parties should contact Russell on 0414 832 425, or email the band via distorted_minds@hotkey.net.au.

And on a final note, could people please, please, please not send attachments with their metal news items in future. My current Internet connection is rather antiquated and messages with large attachments take forever to download. Band photos (including ones in the bodies of messages) really aren't necessary for news items, nor are copies of fliers for shows and suchlike. If you could all keep that in mind, it would be a great help and very much appreciated. Cheers.
