Prize Frenzy™!

Recently Frenzor™ was asked "Excuse me, how quickly do the prizes on Prize Frenzy™ go? Sometimes I've sat on the phone until 3pm and still haven't been able to get through. What gives!" And Frenzor™, being Frenzor™, eviscerated the impudent little guttersnipe with a swift downwards swipe of a single talon, leaving her to choke to death in a spreading pool of her own steaming viscera. Even so, we'd like to give her a posthumous answer: if you're still calling at 1.30, it's probably best to assume everything's gone. You see, rather than spend an hour or so explaining the situation to a constant stream of aggrieved people once everything's been won, Frenzor™ prefers to just leave the phone off the hook and go to lunch, or perhaps on some sort of springtime killing spree. To that end, if you call 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 23 Sept you can win the following (but don't commit more than 30 minutes to the pursuit, honestly):

1. You've read our cover story and thought 'Heck, that 'Translations' production looks pretty freakin' sweet." Yes it does, and you can grab one of five double passes to the Thurs 29 Sept performance at Holden Street Theatres, thanks to Flying Penguin Productions.

2. 67 Special launch their brand new 'The World Can Wait' at the Enigma Bar on Sat 1 Oct and tell Ann Marie Sosnowski all about it in this issue: and you could be there by grabbing one of the three double passes slipped our way by the band and Air Traffic Control management.

3. There's more than a few writers here at dB Magazine that reckon the Pharaohs are one of the best bands Adelaide has produced since... well, ever: that's why their 'Forest For The Trees' CD-EP is this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too', and why Mixmasters Records and the band have given us a few copies for your parochial listening pleasure.

4. Admit it: you've all but fallen in love with the sweetly rockin' sounds of Gyroscope, right? Well, if you haven't yet you will do after reading Ann Marie Sosnowski's interview with the lads, and grabbing a copy of their 'Are You Involved?' CD thanks to FMR.

5. Zillions are about to make their first ever visit to Adelaide (it's that Nick Craft what used to be in Sidewinder, don't you know?) and you could be at their Jade Monkey show on Sat 24 Sept), thanks to Speak'n'Spell.

6. Alternatively you could grab a copy of the Zillions' debut CD-EP 'The Zillions Play Zig-Zag Zillionaire', again thanks to Speak'n'Spell.

7. Andrew P Street has a pleasant chat with the sardonic Will Gregory of Goldfrapp in this issue, and you can hear the subject of their quippery by grabbing a copy of the brand new 'Supernature', courtesy of EMI's largesse.

8. Rhubarb spend a page telling Scott Berry about their upcoming album launch at the Adelaide UniBar on Sat 1 Oct, and you could be there by grabbing a double pass thanks to the band and Australian Music Biz.

9. And it doesn't end there: Rhubarb and Australian Music Biz have also sent us some copies of the very album that are launching: it's called 'Start Again', and we have three copies up for grabs.

10. Brett Allen-Bayes has an illuminating chat with Michelle Shocked about her upcoming show at the Gov on Thurs 29 Sept, and recommends that you grab one of the three passes that Gaynor Crawford has so generously bequeathed to us.

11. Steve Williams asks the good folks of The Boat People what they're planning on doing when they get to Adelaide for their Jade Monkey show on Sat 2 Oct, and you can find out for yourself by getting along with a double pass thanks to Australian Music Biz.

12. The Presets tell Jeremy Reglar all about their brand new 'Beams' CD, and Mad Dog Publicity figure that you'll want to hear what you've read about - which would explain the three copies they've sent our way.

13. Or perhaps you'd sooner sass it up to The Presets live at the Adelaide UniBar on Fr 30 Sept? We've got three double passes, again thanks to Mad Dog.

Online Only Frenzy™!

The Frenztron6000™ might be a spacefaring supercomputer made entirely out of obsolete weaponry and cold indifference to the petty concerns of man, but it also likes to shake its funky thang (the thang in question is a robustly powerful missile launcher - but a damned funky one). That's where it and the people behind the Blind dance party share a philosophy: first few folks to drop them a line at frenchmaidsrock@hotmail.com and let them know their favourite French Maid-related fact will grab themselves a ticket!
