Metal News.
Local experimental death metal band One Step Beyond have made a video clip of their song, Chaos Engine, and sent a copy off to ABC's late night music programme, 'Rage'. Having recently seen it on that show myself, I can say that it's pretty bloody good, so keep an eye out for it.
A reminder that it won't be long now before Parkway Drive's
'Killing With A Smile' is available in stores; the album, which
was recorded with the help of Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz
at Zing Studio in the States, will be coming out on Mon 12 Sept.
To promote the new release, Parkway Drive will be embarking
upon a national tour, playing an all-ages show here on Wed 19
Oct at Fowlers Live.
On Sat 17 Sep, the Land Of Promise Hotel plays host to 'Man Vs Machine 1', "a night of bone-crushing, trend-defying brutal metal, for extreme open-minded people." Bands on the bill will be new outfits Obsidian Aspect, Of Grator and Intended Victim, as well as the zany Team Metal, who will be playing their first show in absolutely ages. Doors open at 9 PM.
On Sat 24 Sep, there will be an all-ages show at The Underground
featuring Impartial, Fall Of Reason, Ghost Of A Chance, Locura
and Beautiful Nightmare Of Mine.
In a bit of interstate news, NSW band Infernal Method have said goodbye to their old singer Joss, replacing him with Evan Williams, formerly of Flesh Mechanic. The band have nearly finished work on their debut album, which should be out within the next few months.
A couple of issues back, I mentioned an incident at this year's
Ozzfest in which The Black Dahlia Murder's guitarist Brian Eschbach
was arrested and briefly detained for indecent exposure. Well,
in more wacky Ozzfest-related news, classic British metallers
Iron Maiden experienced a few dramas at that festival this year,
among them a set in California that was disrupted by the tiresome
shenanigans of assorted missile-throwing losers in the audience,
the invasion of the stage by an American-flag-waving impostor
during a performance of The Trooper, and various suspicious
power failures. Matters were not helped by apparent friction
between Maiden front-man Bruce Dickinson (who felt that his
band's misfortunes were orchestrated by Ozzfest organisers)
and Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne (who later admitted that is was
she who cut the band's power). Dickinson reputedly mocked Ozzy
over his reality TV show appearances, while Sharon, for her
part, told the audience after the aforementioned Maiden set
that Dickinson was a "prick", a comment that did not go down
at all well. Not surprisingly, Iron Maiden will probably not
be taking part in Ozzfest again, while Ozzy himself announced
that this year's festival would be the last that he headlines
with his band Black Sabbath.
