Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band
Your New Best Friends
Emperor Norton/Rykodisc/Stomp
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Galileo, the world's first space resort. We are honoured to have you as our guests, and will do everything we can to make your stay as memorable as possible.
"All the music you hear is provided by our house band on Galileo, Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band. Originally existing back in the early twenty-first century, we located the members during the early planning stages of the space resort and had them suspended in carbon. As Galileo neared completion, the group was thawed and commissioned to provide the soundtrack to your stay in space.
"Musically they cover a wide range, which perfectly suits the activities available on Galileo. Of course, their music is available for Direct Brain Absorption on the resort. The more adventurous of you, however, may wish to use the Time Travel Suite and venture back to the twenty-first century to find their work in shops. Though somewhat daunting, it's an experience you'll never forget.
"Those of you using the Space Beach facilities on board will enjoy
the tropical sounds of Natasha 75. In the Intergalactic Library
you'll hear She Was Here and My Private Night as background
music. If you prefer dancing, the restrained disco of L.i.p.s.t.i.c.k.
will get you on the Orbit Club dancefloor, as will Waiting For
You. Vendetta, with its deep horn stabs, is the soundtrack
to our Espionage Game Deck, while Dr Lovemuscle will only be
heard on the exclusive Couples Deck.
"We believe Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band are the perfect accompaniment to your holiday in space, and they can be seen performing these songs and more live in the Earthrise Lounge every night, except Mondays. Enjoy your stay on Galileo, and please remember that for the duration of your stay, we are your new best friends."
