Metal News.
Fans of Fozzy, the metal band headed by WWE superstar Chris Jericho (the self-proclaimed Ayatollah of Rock n' Rolla), will doubtless be pleased to hear that the group is coming our way to do a short, four-city tour. Adelaide will be one of the cities they visit, their show here taking place at Fowlers Live on Wed 7 Sep. Look out for an interview with the band in the next issue.
On Fri 26 Aug there will be a show at the Jade Monkey featuring
One Step Beyond, Raven Black Night and new outfit Quasar, which
features "current and ex members of Deluge, Slaughter Thou,
Juggermath, Kunk, Sleiphnier and Amongst Heathen Flames." Quasar
are planning to have a full-length album out around the end
of the year; a three-track promo should precede this.
A final reminder that the all-ages launch of Diatribe's debut full-length release 'A Product of Hate' will be happening at Le Rox/Bridgeway Hotel on Sat 27 Aug, with support from Tidal, Skintilla, The Stanford Prison Experiment, and Victorians Repture. Doors open at 6:30 PM for a 7 PM start.
Extreme local outfit Blood Mason have just finished producing
their debut self-titled EP. Comprising the songs Reflections
Of A Future Passed, Blood From Rock and Enslaved, it will be
available at the upcoming Against The Grain show (at which the
band will be playing), and should hopefully be in stores not
long thereafter. The band are planning a launch for it, but
this will probably not be happening until the beginning of November.
And in news of another new local release, local band The Jonestown Syndicate's new EP, 'Don't Let Them Fool You... Beauty is Forever' ("the sexiest album you'll see this year"), is now on sale at all Big Star outlets, Krypton Discs (Glenelg), Daily Grind (Tea Tree Plaza), and Midwest Trader. It will also be available at all Jonestown gigs.
Calling all metal bass players! Local band Enemy Of? are currently
looking for a new bassist. If this sounds like the big break
you've been waiting for, contact the band via broken@enemyof.net,
or send them a message on myspace.com.
And in another bit of news for local metal musicians, Brisbane-based independent label Modern Music, who have a national distribution deal with Sony/BMG, are currently on the lookout for emerging talent here. To that end, they have teamed up with Big Phat Adelaide Records, a label run by local venue promoter, Rob Puddy, or "Pigsy" as he is more commonly known. Pigsy is on the lookout for established acts with a record to release and a desire to tour extensively; if this sounds like your group, get in touch with him via pigsy@dabigpig.com. For more info on Modern Music, go to www.modernmusic.com.au.
Finally, Australian band Parkway Drive, who have played with
many big-name metal and hardcore bands during their comparatively
short existence, will soon be embarking upon their "Killing
With A Smile" national tour, to promote their new album of the
same name. In stores on Mon 12 Sep, 'Killing With A Smile' was
recorded at Zing Studio in Massachusetts, USA with the help
of renowned metal producer and Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam
Dutkiewicz. Parkway Drive will play a licensed all-ages show
here at Fowlers Live on Wed 19 Oct.
