Prize Frenzy™!

Spring might not have exactly sprung as yet, but there's something positively verdant about Prize Frenzy™ this issue. Maybe it's the sheer quality and quantity of the prizery on offer, reminding one of the legendary bounty of the seasonal harvest. Maybe it's the way that Frenzor™ has sprayed his foul-smelling pheromones over everything, making the entire dB Magazine office reek of putrefaction and decay. Either way, you can gather a brimming basketful of Frenzy™ goodness (or at least dip a trembling hand into Frenzor™'s fetid, blackly-dripping prize sack) by calling 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 12 Aug and asking winsomely for your pick of the following:

1. This one - and this one ONLY - is early, OK? The Presets are bringing their pretty damned rad new single Down Down Down and a gig at Jive on Thurs 11 Aug, and in order that you might both hear the single and attend the gig, Mad Dog Publicity have slung us three packs containing a copy of the single and a double to the gig. First three to ring when this hits the streets on Wed 10 Aug get the booty.

2. From here on it it's all about Friday, OK? Magic Dirt are back, baby, with a new single entitled Locket, which is the subject of Wade Howland's chat with guitarist Raul Sanchez I Jorge in this issue. As it happens, Warners think you should have a copy of said single, which is why there are six up for grabs. 3. Local boys made good I Killed The Prom Queen are returning in triumph at the helm of the Destroy Music tour which hits Fowlers Live on Fri 12 Aug. Maddie West asks them all about it in her interview, and we have some doubles to the show thanks to Destroy All Lines.

4. Buck 65's brand new 'Secret House Against The World' is this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too', thanks to Wade Howland's rather convincing review, and we have five copies of that rather excellent CD, thanks to Warners.

5. Or perhaps you wish for something more cultured, like some doubles to see State Theatre's production of 'The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?' on Wed 17 Aug? Lucky you: we have four doubles, thanks to the AFCT.

6. You've read Ryan Smith's interview, so now you're mad keen on getting along to see Eighteen Visions at the Adelaide UniBar on Sat 20 Aug, right? Of course you are, and we have a couple of doubles thanks to Hill 16 Entertainment

7. Matt Vesley speaks to Damian Costin about the fall and resurrection of Motor Ace in this issue, and you can hear all about it via the 'Ace's new 'Animal' CD, thanks to FMR.

8. Local metal kids A Thousand Nightmares talk to Adrian Lee all about their debut CD-EP 'The Coldness Of Departure', and you can grab yourself a copy, courtesy of the band's generosity.

9. Or perhaps you fancy some light-hearted cinematic hi-jinks - like those in 'Wedding Crashers', of which Foster Workshop PR have kindly given us a pile of in-season double passes, since they're so nice.

10. Bodyjar are back with a new label and a new single, and they tell Nina Bertok all about it. And, coincidentally, we've got five copies of the Lights Out single, thanks to Shock.

11. Julian Cram talks to the implausibly named Ninja Chops about the Naked Women's Wrestling League toward the back of this issue, and Siren Entertainment have come through with five copies of the 'NWWL Volume 1' DVDs. Read the article first, mind.

12. Lara Derham reckons the new George A Romero film 'Land Of The Dead' is rather excellent and UIP unhesitatingly concur: read the review and then grab an in-season double. It's got zombies, people!

13. Nevermore have returned with their heavy metal opus 'This Godless Endeavour' and Century Media think you'd enjoy it: read Nina Bertok's interview, then grab yourself a copy.

Online Only Frenzy™!

The Frenztron6000™ isn't letting the controversy surrounding the almost-banned 'Mysterious Skin' stop it from extracting five double passes (for Fri 12 to Sun 13 August) from Palace Nova:. Note that it's rated R for confronting content, so only readers over 18 can grab the tix, so the first five folks to send an email to andrew@dbmagazine.com.au that asks politely and questions a system in which adults are told what they can and can't be trusted to watch will get 'em . Check out Andrew Bunney's review in this issue too.
