Metal News.
Fans of local hardcore outfit Shotpointblank take heed: the band will be playing their last show here for 2005 at the Enigma Bar on Thurs 14 July, this gig kicking off the group's national 'The Final Nail in the Coffin Tour'. Supporting them will be Jungle Fever.
On Sat 16 July, local death metal band Mythica play with new
local outfit Obsidian Aspect (whose line-up includes a member
of Mythica) at the Land of Promise Hotel. The show begins at
10 PM.
To promote their new full-length release, 'A Product of Hate', locals Diatribe will be heading over to Melbourne to do a couple of shows. This has led to the release being put back a couple of weeks: the album will now be in stores on Mon 18 July.
Also on Fri 22 July, Fowlers Live will be playing host to a
show featuring Imminent Psychosis, Lapdancer, Distorted Minds
and Deafening Silence. Doors open at 7:30 PM.
On Thurs 28 July, Danish band The HorrorPops take the stage at the Enigma Bar for the Adelaide leg of their national tour, something that follows hot on the heels of the US Vans Warped Tour, which they are also taking part in. And on the subject of bands who will be playing on the Vans Warped Tour and then coming to Australia, get ready for Boston-based punk rock band The Explosion, who have played with the likes of AFI, Sick Of It All, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Rocket From The Crypt and Face To Face, and will be doing their first tour of Australia in August. That tour begins here, The Explosion playing at the Enigma Bar on Fri 5 Aug.
A bit of a blunder was made in the last column regarding the
next War Room show; this will be happening on Fri 29 July, not
Sat 30 July as previously mentioned. Otherwise, all other details
remain the same: the second 'Battle Royale' extravaganza will
boast one of the event's biggest line-ups take the stage at
the Enigma Bar with Melbourne's Walk The Earth (featuring ex-members
of Superheist and Damaged) and old-school thrashers Demonother
(featuring members of Mindsnare and Fallout), and playing only
their second show here), as well as locals Embodiment 12.14,
Truth Corroded, 1000 Nightmares and Later That Night, who are
planning on releasing a self-titled, eleven-track album in September.
As a bonus, yours truly will be doing a spot of DJing on the
night, so come over and say hello.
In a somewhat unusual bit of news, Tidal and Skintilla will be providing musical entertainment at the big XAW 'Trial By Combat' Wrestling show at Le Rox/Bridgeway Hotel on Sat 30 July. The event will feature matches between Xtreme Adelaide Wrestling superstars, Skintilla providing halftime entertainment, and Tidal doing their show at the end of the night.
And on a final note, please notify me of as many upcoming shows
as you can. A couple of the gigs in this latest column only
got a mention because I happened to pick up flyers for them;
if you've got a show coming up, please let me know about it!
A short message containing all the basic details - time, date,
venue and lineup (mention of whether the show is all-ages or
18+ would also be appreciated) - is all I need; send it ASAP
to brazel@iprimus.com.au. Otherwise I may not hear about your
next show until it's too late.
