Prize Frenzy™!

Frenzor™ might be an one hundred foot tall stone-black hell daemon with eyes like the fathomless depths of the infernal abyss and mighty wings that block out the very sun itself, but that doesn't mean that he's immune to the sniffles. Yes, he's feeling pretty sorry for himself at the moment, which is why his lair is surrounded by tissues and the festering corpses of careless people who've said things like "Colds? Not me! Why, every winter I take echinacea as soon as the temperature drops and haven't had a single cold in years!" within his hyper-sensitive hearing. However, because he is a creature of his word, and because he's only employed under a casual contract that has no provisions for sick days, a little explosive phlegm and steaming hot mucus hasn't stopped him from gathering a collection of prizery which could be described with some justification as "king's bounty-esque": and if you ring 8231 0881 at 1pm on Fri 15 July, some of it could even become yours.

1. This issue's We Liked It And You Will Too is My Chemical Romance's 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge': read Ryan Smith's glowing review in this issue, then just try and resist the five copies kindly slipped our way by Warners.

2. Caribou - or Dan Snaith, at least - has a fascinating chat with Lenin Simos about the upcoming show at Fowlers Live on Wed 20 July, and once you've read about his glorious music you'll want to grab one of the three double passes that Feel Presents have generously handed over.

3. Sarah Blasko is about to play two shows at Fowlers Live in support of her new CD-EP 'Perfect Now', and you can hear the new versions of some of her old favourites by grabbing a copy, thanks to Dew Process.

4. Ann Marie Sosnowski has an illuminating chat with Davey Lane about his band The Pictures, their new CD 'Pieces Of Eight' and their imminent show at the Enigma Bar on Wed 20 July. And you can experience all those things by grabbing one of the three Pictures packs containing a CD and a double pass, thanks to Anouk Van Meeuwen Publicity.

5. The Departure are the latest Next Big Thing to come out of the UK, and Eddie Chan discovers why in this issue. EMI, meanwhile, would like to seduce you by giving you one of five copies of their debut album 'Dirty Words'.

6. Sumi give Jess Law the low down on their new CD-EP 'Next Year's Passing Trend', and you can get low and down with 'em by grabbing a copy for yourself, thanks to the band.

7. Rocktastic new faces Crowned King are coming all the way from Canada to play at the Enigma Bar on Thurs 31 July: read Ryan Smith's interview with them in this issue, then grab a double pass to the show and a copy of their brand new 'Break The Silence' CD, thanks to Care Factor.

8. Problem Pony would like you to hear their debut full-length album 'To Catch The Moon'. And they're not just messing about either: not only do they discuss said album with Narelle Walker this issue, they also have handed over three copies for your winning potential. Cheers, 'Ponies!

9. Last issue's Frenzy™ was so crazily full that we couldn't squeeze in the copies of 'Inspector Rex: The First Series' (which reviewer Lara Derham described as being just about the greatest thing ever), so we're making up for it with three sets, thanks to Aztec Entertainment.

10. You want to see The Go Betweens, right? You've read Eddie Chan's interview with Robert Forster and gotten all het up: so grab one of two double passes to their show at the Gov on Wed 20 July, thanks to The Right Profile.

11. Or maybe you'd like to hip and hop with Diafrix? They're at the Rhino Room on Fri 15 July and the Crown & Sceptre on Sat 16 July and we have two copies of ther new EP and a double to the gig of your choice, thanks to 3 Reasons.

Online Only Frenzy™!

You've read the review, you've enjoyed the interview: now you want to see 'The Yes Men'; but that's not enough, is it? You know

it, The Frenztron6000™ knows it, and Rialto Entertainment know it, which is why they've handed over packs containing a double to the film and a copy of The Yes Men's book: all you have to do is be one of the first two people to email andrew@dbmagazine.com.au and prove you've read the magazine by answering this pertinent question: what country is a) the largest democracy on earth, and b) suffers from endemic poverty and massive disparities in income, suggesting that this whole "globalisation" thing isn't quite as uncomplicated as the WTO would have us believe? Email Andrew now, comrade!
