Dance News.
A few rumours to start off this week: apparently the guys behind Blind are planning a massive show sometime in the next few months. September is when the Freestylers are touching down to Australia, but who knows if they'll come to Adelaide? Happily, the Bugg'n tour with Method Man and DJ Kool is confirmed for Adelaide in September. A bit sooner is Enchanted Forest Winter Edition, with rumours flying about it's going to be at Thebby, split between Earth and St Pauls, or even at the site as the faked Lunar Landing! I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
Soma Rasa's new single Say What You Say featuring Digital
Underground is in stores now so they're bringing their full
live band featuring MC Handy to Fowler's Live on Sun 3 July.
This will be a live breaks night not to be missed!
Did you dig the groove of the Breakfastaz and Krafty Kuts? Then you'll definitely enjoy getting your face covered in Jam, every second and last Friday of the month at Mojo. Residents Grif, Trucker, Crispin and Funky J warm the joint with the hottest jams in styles not often heard in Adelaide, including dub step, dancehall, garage and nuskool breaks.
If you enjoy the sounds of Van Buren, Tiesto, Corsten, PVD and
more then come celebrate the sounds of Trance at BlackLightBlu
every second Friday of the month starting Fri 8 July at Tonic
Bar in Light Square. This monthly night is solely dedicated
to the global sounds of trance and will showcase everything
from progressive through vocal hands in the air club trance
and driving NRG filled trance. Residents include Dr Damage,
ATB, Solace, Agent Smith and MC Jules.
There are not one, but two massive raves on Sat 9 July. It's going to be quality whichever you go to, but the most popular rave event in Adelaide is undoubtedly Enchanted Forest, and they've got their Winter Edition coming up at a yet to be disclosed venue (as discussed above). The line up includes Grooverider, Paul Glazby, Tinrib, Teebee, Brisk, Billy Bunter, Bexta, E-NRG (Carbon Based), Mike Humphries, Ignition Technician, Organ Donors, Shapeshifter, Blanco, Dave Rankine, Dr Willis, MC P Diggs, MC Tik, plus the best DJs Adelaide has to offer in all genres from hard house to drum'n'bass to hardcore, trance and techno.
Then there's also the Kryptonite Dance Party is to be held at
the Shores Function Complex West Beach on Sat 9 July. The stellar
line up includes acts from all over the world, including Andy
Farley, Phil Reynolds, Alek Szahala, UFO, Alex Calver, Endymion,
Evil Activities, Da Preditor, Dave Joy, Daniel Ro and DJ Dean.
Australia is represented by Hellraiser, Master Kaos, Seventy
7, 2Styliztik, Fenix, Team Rocket, Tiamos, BiPolar, Telemikus,
and Chia, and to back that up there's an equal amount of talented
Adelaide DJs on board.
Fri 15 July the next instalment of Infiltrate, a night devoted to young up-and-coming drum'n'bass DJs and MCs will be held at Black Cat Night Club. DJs for the night are Mark7 and Static, alongside newcomers Switch, Velocity, Stylus, Frost, Rebel, Weez, Writa, and last but by no means least JamesM, who has shrugged off the spectre of hard house and embraced the dark side. MCs include Hype, Stryke and Quantum.
And in international news, Bomb The Bass producer Tim Simenon
sobbed openly in a London court after being found not guilty
of raping a 27 year old trainee music teacher he met on a night
out clubbing last year. The woman accused Simenon of loading
her up on alcohol and cocaine, then raping her at a mutual friend's
apartment. Simenon claimed the sex had been consensual, but
she'd stormed off after he'd mentioned his long-term girlfriend.
He was unanimously acquitted after the jury retired for just
three minutes.
