Prize Frenzy™!

Look, Frenzor™'s not necessarily the sharpest pencil in the box (although he's definitely the pencil most likely to tear you limb from limb and incinerate your carcass), but he figured that the system for Frenzor™'s Infernal Soul-Reaping Nightmare Odyssey, which we playfully renamed "Prize Frenzy™", was pretty straightforward. However, no system is so flawless that its user can't benefit from the odd revision session, so let's just go over it again: there's a day (Fri 17 June), there's a time (1pm, as heralded by the Triple J news theme) and there's a number (8231 0881). By calling the number at the time, on the day, you - the valued prize customer - get your pick of the booty listed below; unless it's already gone, of course, in which case you will know the bitter shame of defeat. Oh, and every caller implicitly pledges ownership of their immortal soul to Frenzor™; but you knew that, right?

1. The Mess Hall are on our cover and in our hearts; and they're also at Fowlers Live on Fri 17 June. And you could be there too (at Fowlers, not on our cover; and you're already in our hearts) by grabbing one of the five double passes that Shock have so kindly given us.

2. Or perhaps you'd like to get a bit of a preview of End Of Fashion's album by catching them live at Jive on Sat 25 June: EMI have stumped up five double passes, because they're lovely.

3. Matt Vesley reckons that Oasis' 'Don't Believe The Truth' is a storming return to form, which is why it's this issue's 'We Liked It And You Will Too'. SonyBMG are right behind this decision, which they've backed up with copies of said album.

4. Ann Marie Sosnowski chats with Faker about their debut album 'Addicted Romantic', which EMI are pretty sure you'd like. That's why they've given us a handful of copies for your listening pleasure.

5. You've read Eddie Chan's interview with The Futureheads and you're thinking "Since Warners are such good people, I bet that they'll have given Frenzor five copies of their rockin' self-titled debut so I might enjoy their modern mix of punk and funk." How prescient of you!

6. Towards the back of this issue Andrew P Street is chatting with director Bradley Beasley about his Flaming Lips documentary 'The Fearless Freaks', and to celebrate this meeting of minds Jo Wilson and Stomp DVD have sent over three copies for your audio-visual entertainment purposes.

7. One two three four! We've got in-season double passes to 'End Of The Century', the rather ace documentary on the Ramones (conveniently reviewed by Andrew Bunney in this issue), thanks to Palace Nova.

8. Palace Nova have also stumped up some in-season doubles to critically acclaimed cult hit 'The Edukators', because they're just so nice.

9. Melbourne folk-punkers The Go Set are coming to Adelaide for the first time and Mr Street discusses their upcoming show with them elsewhere in this issue. You can prepare for their visit by grabbing a copy of their 'Sing A Song Of Revolution', thanks to Laughing Outlaw and the band.

10. Cassie Hilditch chats amicably with the lads from Spoon in this issue and Remote Control have kindly dropped two copies of their storming 'Gimme Fiction' CD. Good people, those Remote Control kids.

11. How much Dave Mann Collective do you want? A copy of the new album? Their previous two EPs? A double pass to their show at the Grace Emily on Sun 19 June? You're in luck: the band have given us a special pack that contains the whole lot!

12. Ryan Smith talks big with the Kaiser Chiefs in this issue, and you can enjoy the up to the minute sounds of their rather ace debut 'Employment', thanks to UMG.

13. Former Adelaide boy Jet O'Rourke has moved to Melbourne and formed his new rock trio The Gear; and you can hear what he's all about by grabbing a copy of 'The Gear EP', thanks to Australian Music Biz.

14. Ben Revi reckons that you'll like Hood (who he interviews in this issue), and Sensory Projects concur: they've slipped us a special Hood pack which contains their last three CDs ('The Lost You', 'Outside Closer' and 'Cold House'). Rad, no?

Online Only Frenzy™!

In a rare example of cooperation between the Frenztron6000™ and Puff, we've got a pack of the White Stripes' new album 'Get Behind Me Satan' and a copy of the Blue Orchid single (thanks to Remote Control) for the sassy reader who best responds to the challenge laid down in this issue's Puff'n'Stuff. Send your response to andrew@dbmagazine.com.au: the answer that makes him laugh most wins.
