Metal News.

In a bit of extra news regarding the imminent Hate Eternal show, the band have recently enlisted the services of a second guitarist, Eric Hersemann. "Eric is an amazing guitarist who has worked extremely hard crafting his skills and is learning to perfection the Hate Eternal songs, old and new", says band front-man Erik Rutan of the new addition. "To hear the music live with the second guitar, as it was written and performed in the studio, is amazing. This will be the first time ever in the history of the band we have played live as a four-piece. Such a powerful way to start touring for the release of our new album, 'I, Monarch'. We are now complete and look forward to the future with Eric in the fold." In other gig-related news Hate Eternal's show at the Bridgeway Hotel will be the only all-ages one on its Australian tour so be sure to support it. Doors open at 7:30 PM.

After playing here only a few months ago Melbourne metal band Walk The Earth, a group featuring ex-members of Damaged and Superheist, return for another show at the Enigma Bar, on Fri 3 June. Performing with them will be local bands Truth Corroded, Cry Murder and The Jonestown Syndicate.

A final reminder that local black metal outfit Darklord will be playing their next show at Jive on Fri 10 June with supports Raven Black Night and Hatred Slave.

On the subject of Raven Black Night, the band play another show at Jive on Friday 17th June with One Step Beyond, Imminent Psychosis and an interstate act yet to be confirmed; this show will be the launch of the 'Underearthed 3' compilation. The group will also be playing at the Bloodlust festival in Sydney on Sat 9 July; more details about this as I get them. Finally, the group's recent release, 'Choose The Dark', has received a rave review in an American fanzine called 'Chaos Realm'; those interested can check out the review by going to http:hometown.aol.com/raysrealm/myhomepage/index.html.

The next War Room event to be held on Fri 24 June will feature as its headlining act Melbourne's grindcore band Fuck... I'm Dead, playing their first show here for the year. A release of theirs, 'Bring On The Dead Motherfucker', is now out on American label Razorback while the group are currently working on material for their first release since a split CD they did with a US band called Engorged a couple of years back. Also playing on the night will be new grind act Wasted Gods (featuring members of Truth Corroded and Melbourne outfit The Wolves), as well as local bands Meat Wallet and The New Mutiny. For more on the War Room, including info on the event's Battle Royale show in July, go to www.thewarroom.vze.com.

As part of an exclusive licensing deal, metal label Earache has become affiliated with US underground label Willowtip, a group that has helped nurture such talents as Cephalic Carnage, Creation Is Crucifixion, Goatsblood, Misery Index and Circle Of Dead Children. Thanks to the new deal, most of Willowtip's catalogue - including releases by such current artists as Crowpath, Neuraxis, Capharnaum and Arsis - will soon be available on the Earache label.

If you love hardcore and are not averse to traveling interstate to indulge that love, you may like to start making travel plans for Hardcore 2005, to be held at the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills, Sydney on Fri 1 July and Sat 2 July. Australia's premier hardcore event, the Hardcore festival celebrates its fifth birthday this year, and will be headlined this time around by Byron Bay's Parkway Drive, just back from the US where they recorded their new album with Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz. Melbourne band Hitlist will be playing their last-ever shows at Hardcore 2005, while other groups on the bill include Behind Crimson Eyes and Carpathian. Friday's show will be all-ages while Saturday's will be 18+. Tickets for the event are on sale now through www.moshtix.com. Check out www.resistrecords.com for more info.
